HELP!, Nursing in bali

Postby MistaSista on Tue Mar 02, 2004 2:01 pm

Hey Guys :D, great lil site you've got here!. I've got a few Qns for anyone nice enough to answer

Well first of all allow me to introduce myself...My names Will, I'm 21 and a registerd nurse. It is my goal to live and work in bali next year for about 12 months and like so many I need some help getting a plan together.

Firstly, I was wondering what paid job oppurtunitys are their for male nurses in bali?. Where would I look and who should I talk to?.
I was strongly thinking about voluteer work but did the math and have come to the conclusion I just couldn't afford to do it.
Does anybody know any foreign nurses in bali?, how do they do it?, how are foreign nurses (paticularly male foreign nurses) looked upon?.

I think you can see where I'm going with this one. Any info anyone has on nursing in bali would be greatly appreciated. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Mista sista,

My guess is that you could get a job, but you wouldn't like the pay. This is the third-world, where workers make no money. You might try an international school where the money might be better.....

Well guys I've done some research and hard thinking. My conclusion is that I'm gonna work hard for the next 12 months and save all the pennys I can. Then after that I'm off to bali for 12 months to do some volunteer work. My intention has never been to go to bali as a money making venture, just make enough to get me by for my time their. Seeing as thats not really an option I'm prepared to pay to do what I love most..looking after people in need.
My question is are their many (if any) volunteer organisations in bali that may appreciate the help of a division 1 nurse?, is voluntering considerd working and hence requires a KITAS?, whats the best way for me to go about all this?
Once again any info you could provide would be extremely appreciated!
:D

You would have a problem if you came under a Social Visa, which explicitly prohibits working for free (volunteer work). To do this legally you would need to be affiliated with a government-approved Yayasan (non-profit org). Maybe someone else here knows of an appropriate Yayasan, because I do not.

The key word for you is Yayasan.

Agree with Ken 100% regarding the visa issue. Moreover, now is NOT the time to mess with immigration here. They are really clamping down.

Anyway, one organization that could be perfect for you is the Bali Hati Foundation here in Ubud. You can check them out at the URL below, and contact details are provided there. Good luck.
