    Question FIFO lifestyle...

Hi all...; Busting my Balipod cherry here, so after spending most of last night reading through the treads I have my first question to ask.

    * Does anyone live a Fly In-Fly Out (FIFO) between Darwin & Bali? Or even Perth for interest?
Mining, Oil & Gas industry employment would most suit this type of lifestyle, and with cheap & regular flights between both destinations I can see it is quite possible.
    * If you DO or HAVE worked or lived like this then what benefits, advice, and information can you share regarding doing this?
I have even heard some companies will FIFO you to your home LOCATION (ie: Bali) when you are on break? Myth or Reality?

Thanks in advance, and great to finally find a decent forum I can relate to.

I've got a few friends who 'FIFO' although I'll admit I've never heard of this term before. They are mainly Australian but often seem to work in Vietnam or the like in the oil industry...so are usually flying in & out of other places but there lives are based here. My understanding is that they have insurances etc covered...but it would be best to talk directly with people who FIFO about this as I've got no idea what arrangements they have with their respective employers. Anyway, they all seem to have no problems and are happy with the lifestyle.

There seem to be plenty of people living this way here and I doubt it would be difficult to find someone to talk to face to face about this. Not sure if you come to Bali often but if you do and you are having trouble finding these FIFO...er's - I'd be happy to meet you to set this up...all going well.

Cool thanks. I wasn't aware of that. Yet I wonder if in this age of cheap airfares/deals that maybe it would work out better to just book your own? All to look over at the time of contract negotiation I guess.

I have been to Bali a few times and surfed Sunbawa also, but has been almost 2yrs since my last visit. My next visit will be in FEB/MAR, so will keep your offer in mind. Thanks a bunch!
