Advice on where to stay in Kuta

Postby Patrick Mant on Fri May 30, 2008 11:16 am

greetings to all,

I am going to be visiting Bali for two weeks from the 21 October to the 4 November and I am looking for a place to stay around Kuta. Can any one recomend some good small hotels, or guest houses and let me know what sort of rates to expect.

Does anyone knoe the Adhi Jaya Hotel ?

I would also like to hire a car and driver, any advice welcome.

thanks in advance

Patrick I must admit I have never stayed in Kuta (well Seminyak I have as a stopover before Ubud/Lovina) but recommend that you peruse BaliDiscovery.com for a list of properties, or simply google bali hotels and villas and check accommodation portals. After doing so pop any properties you like into a google search and take a closer look at the property website.

You may even find better rates than advertised on hotel property portals.

Use tripadvisor.com to check out if the hotel is decent compared to the hotel's own PR...this is based on reviews by visitors and will give you a feel for the hotel and whether it suits the purpose of your visit.

Some advice for you (a) as you are staying two weeks this should assist you in getting a better than normal rate...my trick is to say I will be staying 2 to three nights and haggle for best price...then increase it to more nights to get an even better rate; (b) as you are going for two weeks can I recommend you also at least try other places in Bali too...Ubud for example.

Your choice really depends on budget...you can get places for a few dollars a night or spend $1000 if you want to.

Had a quick look at the hotel you mentioned, IMHO you can get better for that price. Circa £90 a night would get you a mini villa in Kuta elsewhere, even in the more upscale Seminyak area.

Hope you find what you want :)

Ooops that should be $90, not £90...

Try Three Brothers Inn, just off Jl Legian. Gorgeous grounds, nice outdoor bathrooms, and beautiful (open) Balinese style suites make this moderately priced inn a great place to stay. If you like nature, you'll love the 2 hectare grounds which are covered with tropical fruit trees, tiny frogs and birds of all types. Breakfast is included as is tax for longer stays. You can negotiate that. Rooms start at $25US a night for a fan; $30 for air-conditioning. I'd go for the fan rooms.
Keep on smiling.

Take a look at Masa Inn at Jl Poppies II

Nice clean hotel with good service for not a bad price. Really in the heart of Kuta.

How much do you want to pay per night?
Satriya Cottages in Kuta are nice and Sri Ratu in Legian is cheap and acceptable.
On the beach have a look at Sari Beach Inn Legian/Seminyak.
