HHH and fitness can be seen as an oxymoron.

If you've perused the HHH link that Roy posted, you'll get a flavour of what it's all about. It's difficult to "explain" in a few lines. Great source of bawdy lyrics. Time to eat now and hope to meet you soon, in the flesh.

True enough, the Ubud chapter of the Bali Hash has often been called a running club with a drinking problem. But seriously, each member approaches the Hash in their own style, and once indoctrinated, each gets a “Hash name” which occasionally can be rather brutal! Some will run the entire course which is laid out each week in various areas of Bali, (usually within no more than an hour drive from Ubud), some will run some parts, and walk the rest, and some just walk the entire course. At the end, most will hang around for the meeting, awards and partaking of the Bintang, but some just drink water, juice, or soda.

Naughty Nuri’s Warung, which is directly opposite the Neka Museum, ( located a little north and west of central Ubud), serves as the Hash headquarters. If interested in the Hash, stop by there and ask for co-owner Brian to ask any questions and to pick up a copy of that week’s Hash sheet. “On on” as they say!

Hashing is great.

another great sport that has a lot of similar aspects (social, cross cultural and welcoming, all-levels, all ages, co-ed) is Ultimate (aka Ultimate frisbee). ...and apparently they play in Ubud (though i can't vouch for this myself).

HHH is not about running it is a forum for people to meet and enjoy life and its experiences. The running or in many cases walking is just the excuse to meet. Like the London marathod some are serious and some do it for fun.

It has been an entry for me to meet people in many countries of the world and I reccommend it to anyone wishing to meet new people in a new place anywhere. Have fun.

I was so out of shape when I was in Bali I couldnt believe some of the older gents sweating out the alchohol in their systems, it was 100proof!!! Fun event for everyone, something for everyone, even if you dont run or walk the course, no shame, well mabey a little, but the beer&food&fit women in short running shorts will get you over that! Enjoy!
