Default Top 5 favourite restaurants on the island

We're pulling together a guide for some of our students, recommending the best restaurants and cafes on the island. As we're a yoga organisation, we're only after places on the healthy/natural side.

Anyone who wants to submit their top five favourites, we'd love to hear them!

Agree, but I know of one in Ubud called Clear, on Hanoman Street vegetarian etc etc no alcohol, has been recommended by friends. But as I am a meat eater, and love a wine or 3 with my meal, have not entered the premises
I have just learnt that pleasing everyone is impossible. But, pissing them off is a piece of cake

In a similar vein, I went to Bali Buddha (Ubud) the other day and asked for beer, and they said "no". It isn't on their menu but on previous visits, I would ask, and it would appear. Their lemongrass tea was good, and their salads are great - but Oh for a beer.

Here is a newish one, Warung Bernadette, that is worth a try - right next door to Ubud Deli in Jl Raya Mas. An added plus is the parking behind.

There is a great veg. warung in Sanur, called Greenleaf. It is very small and service is slowish...but that is because they cook when you order, so the food is just right! I cannot remember the name of the road but it is at the McDonall's end of Sanur, on a small road between the bypass and the main twisty road of Sanur... gosh, I am sounding more Indonesian with these directions! If you find the place, I am sure that you will like it... get there early, as they use fresh veg. Regardless of the menu, when it is gone... it's gone!
    Happy eating
(Oh and they do serve beer!)

I find it funny too , what with these vego holier than thou types that think by insisting to not serve alcohol they are saving the planet and its customers from evil ...., yet they are open on the side of the road with air pollution from the traffic wafting in through the door , or burning fossil fuels to run their aircons
