Well Doc... Depends on your timing I guess; you must be passing through of an evening.

It's Open from 9:00 to 5:00 every day of the year (apart from Nyepi) There's no real reason to have it open at night, apart from special occasions, as there just isn't the trade to make it worthwhile. but that may change.....

I was there at 9.30am and it had just opened. The handmade strawberry jam made by the baker next door is yummy!

Orang Gila thanks for the info. I just must have missed it because I stopped by the other day at just around five and it was closed. I was looking forward to having a beer while my wife did her shopping for vegetables. I guess I'll have to try it next january which is my next scheduled trip back from Sumbawa.

Yep, 'tis true.

In a friends partnership with Cracker Waterman from Mandurah Australia, and Don from the good old USA.

Initially, the concept was to "improve" one of the local dunnies so it would more suit western visitors to Candi Kuning markets, then it sort of got out of hand. There was nothing much we could do to improve what was already in place, too big a job, then we found an old house off the back corner of the markets, so thought we could convert that into a toilet block. Once again, a bit difficult, so bit the bullet and built a brand new block of dunnies, then thought "why not" & converted the old house into a bar.

Then a local friend Ingky asked if she could set up a pastry shop (she's trained in Aust & the USA) and the last bit of space was allocated to the AdoptA Co-Op widows to help them with sales, they needed a retail outlet.

It's a work in process, as the top deck will someday be some sort of eating establishment, along the lines of a steak house or such, and the missus wants to add a couple of rooms on the top so she has somewhere to escape to when she needs a break from yours truly.

Hey Roy, Yes it is, owned by Mr.David who has a nice place across the road(left side from Denpasar) from Hotel Pacung. David's place is the Pacung Indah,nice place to eat! As we have a house in the area ,we frequent both places.And on occasion he and wife stop by the house for a cigar, adult beverage and enjoy the views!! Hope you can sometime,as well as the Doc. Would like to hear some stories from Sumbawa!!
Roy, keep your head down and swing easy........... Good Luck!!!

And to drbruce & jogry;

the "open" times do seem to be flexible, went up there last Friday to show the place to some friends and the crew were just opening up at 9:20. And we are aware that they also take off a tad early some days.

The staff were thretened with a spanking if they couldn't manage to stick to the open / close times :roll:

Well I'll make it a point to stop by the next time that I'm in Bali. It gets to be hard leaving the house to go anywhere these days with all the traffic. Generally, it's much easier just sitting around the house watching the kids grow up and trying to keep my wife from spending all the money.

Sure thing stop by. We live in Sekongkang, one of the surfing areas of Sumbawa. No address, but we have a rather large house next to the Mega Arafa hotel. If you're a surfer, you'll love the area. If you like animals, you'll love the place. If you like the big city (like Kuta or Denpasar), you'll be bored senseless.
