What have you had to pay for, under the counter so that you can have something done.
Not what you have pay to get out of something(paying the police because you have done something wrong, your the one causing the corruption).
I had a lawyer ask 7mill to sign a legal letter. no way
The government police have ask for money to look the other way(sign in front of factory to large). Give me a official complaint & I will go to the office to pay.
Police 750,000 for each SIM, I paid 650,000 for all.
PLN employee want extra to get power changed from 2300w-5500w. Went to main office paid the official price & 10 days later power was up graded.
Kitas immigration in Jakarta wanted 3mill to accept letters for Kitas so flew to Jakarta, cost 1mill for ticket & all finished not problems.

Passport for my partner to travel with me to Australia. Official price for Indonesian passport, Rp750.000 and we applied 6 months before the date of travel.
3 weeks before our trip, the passport still wasn't ready (after nearly 30 phone calls to the immigration officer).
He finally said the price would be Rp750.000 extra if we wanted the passport on time.We paid.
Talking about corruption, just got this one in my Inbox. This guy makes me laugh.

300RP for the POLDA signature on my ITAS when it only costs 100RP. Still haven't paid and probably won't.
I know its not a lot compared to what others have gone through, but the slightest bit of corruption makes me sick, I refuse to give anything to those scum.
My wifes passport took 4 month but no extra cost, but when we went to use it at the airport, it did not work. After a hour & extra picture & finger prints we were on our way, lucky I always try to be early for flights, Immigration said that the passport was not in the system yet, seem to work in KL.
Arch7 you will have not real problems till you start to use the system here, most tourist only have problems when riding a motor bike

@arch7...unless you're getting married, build a house, need a passport, or want to get a driverslicense...you should be fine
seriously, don't mess with drugs on the island. Have patience in everything that might cross your path and you should be ok and have a great time.

nothing! But that is not to say I won't, only that I have never had the need. mind you the Toraja Mafia have helped without payment.
