    Default Re: Obama and Biden

As more posting I’ve read, as more I favourite the casting show idea for nominating the US President.

Will Smith for President and Paris Hilton VP!

    Jim,

After 8 years Republican Government under Bush junior, this party would be dead in every other country of the world for the next 100 years ( ok, ok, let’s beside Pakistan, Italy and some banana republics).

The huge hole in the state’s budget he left, will be effecting generations of Americans, the relationship to Europe is frozen, the relationship to Russia has never been worse since the Cuba crisis.
The banking disaster, the economy is down, so is the US Dollar, the lousy interest policy of the FED, wherever this government had their hands in the game it was a lost game, no management or leadership skills at all, no controlling, nothing.
These ridiculous laws around the Patriot act (even the name alone should be suspicious), you are mentioning human rights in China, well I haven’t heard yet, that Chinese intelligence services are hijacking people around the world for no reason, put them into illegal planes and fly them secretly to unknown, hidden prisons in some dubious countries, where people are tortured, legitimated by the government, nor have I seen that China was invading another country due to some amateur drawings of suspected, mobile WMD laboratories!

OK, Ok, foreign policy and diplomacy are certainly not really the superior field of Republican policy, their credo is still America first, so some of these embarrassing faults are to tolerate and we also need something to laugh about sometimes, just like when Bush was putting custom fines on steel imports and then got surprised that the US car manufactures were running out of steel (not so bad many may think) or when he pushed Paul Wolfowitz as the head of the World Bank, good joke and of course it ended in just another scandal, despite the fact that Wolfowitz was not qualified at all, but this doesn’t seem to matter for this clique.

After they killed the peace process in the middle East, they thought a least about the business, so Israel was stuffed with smart bombs and other high tech military equipment, that they really (the Israelis) had no idea anymore where to store all the stuff, so they bombed half of the Lebanon into ashes in some days and US American policy thought – shit happens, the got surprised and had no idea what to do.

Good that you mention Georgia and Russia dear Jim!
There we all can see, that not only the USA are invaders, don’t we?
A shame, that in London, Paris and Berlin not many of these we shall overcome singers have been seen demonstrating on the streets and burning Russian flags, so anti-American these (old) European buggers, probably all communists, or is it maybe that we know something about the background of this conflict there, don’t we have a heart for the poor President, who is holding speeches in English to his Georgian people?
Why is Dick Chaney so eager to get the Ukraine and Georgia into the NATO, you will certainly agree that Russia is not so pleased about the siege of NATO states at every corner of it’s country, but why the hell does the NATO (which has North Atlantic in the name) need these countries?
Doubtless you will have occupied with this topic dear Jim, so you will know that the majority of Russians in South Ossetia (spelling?) were protected by a Russian peace keeping force there, just like Abkhazia, when this corrupt sucker of Georgia got the signal of the NATO membership (pushed by Chaney), yes he got encouraged by the US, then he thought the Russian would not dare to face a conflict with the NATO when he attacked South Ossetia, well the Russian proved him wrong – but why this all, wasn’t it really exaggerated?
The Russian psyche is not very comfortable with NATO presence in their front and back yard – there is fear and it was the USA which used the nuclear bomb two times, there was also the nuclear first strike scenario, planned, recommended and pushed by (parts) of American military in response to the Cuba crisis and it was Richard Nixon, who had the intention to bomb Hanoi with nuclear weapons.
Russians also do not like invasions so much, since their own country has been invaded many times already in the opposite to the USA.
Maybe a look on a map of the Black Sea will give you a hint, when you know that the USA are planning a pipeline to bypass the Russian monopoly of gas delivery through the Ukraine, then you will see without Abkhazia as a part of (NATO member) Georgia this will not work out.
That’s the deal, another time it’s gas and oil!

When Obama will become the next president, then he will have to deal with the results of the criminal Bush administration, change, change, change, in many parts it won’t be possible to change something in a short time, this let’s bring our boys home statements in respect to Iraq are dangerous and wrong, terribly wrong!
Obama cannot simply say it was wrong, but not my fault, so lets forget it, some more thousand American soldiers will have to die down there, many more billions of Dollars will flow into this senseless war, they cannot go home just like in Vietnam, drag the US troops out there and you will have a super catastrophe in the whole region, this scenario was already clear before the war, but these bunch of idiots did not want to hear it, they were deaf.

It is really amazing, that obviously these citizens living in the middle America are simply ignoring the results of this American policy for the rest of the world and also that they cannot see the effect on their selves, just like a herd of sheep they seem to accept every BS from this Government as long it is called patriotic in some way.

Thursday is the 9/11 and Obama and McCain will have a cease fire for a day as a part of the show, the falling twin towers and about 3000 victims of this terror act have been abused to justify a lot of things.
Everybody will remember GWB’s speech on the fire truck on ground zero, so what’s now?
Much more sons of America have died already in this war on terror than in New York, Washington and on flight 93, civilian or, like the military would call it, collateral damages, are not countable or registered anymore, but doubtless the death toll will top 1 million, only in Afghanistan and in the Iraq!
So was the (US American) world getting more secure with this war of terror?

I’ve been travelling around the world and one thing I have experience is, people are all the same all over the world, all are human beings, strip down racial, cultural and religious differences and you will have the same everywhere, if in South America, North America, Asia and even in the Iran, so maybe these middle Americans need to get a passport and go travelling, instead of only watching the corn grow and complain about the fuel prizes!

SG – I’m really glad that not all Americans are dumbasses, when it comes to politics!

Roy, I appreciated your last post a lot!

    Best regards
    Thorsten

    PS:
One last remark, I think there should be a Bill Clinton memorial one day in Washington and it is really incredible that nobody seems to recognize what he has been for the USA!
They have tried to impeach him due to a blow job and some other stuff, nobody here in Europe would ever make a fuss about, they don’t see what he has done for the country and America’s role in the world!

Are you seriously considering China and the U.S. as the same on human rights?
No, I'm not. As above, the US has a much worse record than China.

Unless of course you don't count non-Americans as human.

thanks roy - i was hoping it wouldn't be taken offence to.. and you're right, i hold no anti-american grudges, other than their recent voting record..

the news in the media is all very bad at this point.. mccain is leaping ahead and is leading obama amongst independents polled by 15%.. general polls amongst registered voters have him up anywhere from 1% to 10% in USAToday's poll.. 'hope' is fading..

I've been following the polls quite closely. That USA Today poll is widely seen as an aberration and skewered by an oversampling of registered Republicans. The others taken just after the RNC have McCain 1 or 2 points ahead (within the margin of error) and the most recent one, from WSJ, has Obama 1 point ahead again.

If you exclude the USA Today, which statisticians are, then McCain's bounce was not as big as they expected and is fading already, which should see us back to status quo this week.

And the bounce seems to have come in the redneck belt...Obama is still way ahead in electoral votes.

    WOW!!!!

Balilife and Roy, what great posts! Ct, I think you just about perfectly sized up the sentiment of nearly 100% Australians and Roy, if more Americans had a grasp of the world beyond the borders and the same objective viewpoint of their country as yourself, I sincerely believe we would be living in a time of 'the years to remember', rather than the shit we've had to put up with over the last 8 years.

Quite frankly, as an Australian, I have no time for the USA and American politics interests me as much as paint drying. But I'm tired of hearing that the place is 'the leader of the free world', when in the last 8 years MY freedom has been eroded by the 'real' terrorist GWB. I'm tired of hearing that it is the 'greatest country in the world' when I know that only a small minority of Americans have left their own country and seen the rest of the world (I've been thru Europe, USA and Asia and I know that I live in the greatest country in the world, Australia), I'm tired of a country thieving money and resources from the worlds poor only to watch it 'explode' in front of a news camera or fatten the wallet of some greedy redneck and I'm tired of a country supposedly meant to be the bastion of democracy, trying to dictate to the rest of the world.

I sincerely hope that the US makes the right decision because I believe this is their last chance to retain some shred of credibility within the world community, especially as China's (and soon India's) wealth creeps ever higher and undoubtedly global influence with it . We've seen the backlash here (Howard's gone!) and in the UK (Blair's gone!) can Americans really be that daft that they would even REMOTELY consider voting another Republican in, let alone have them neck and neck with each other? Wake up America!!!

Unfortunately, if the current polls are to be believed, the sad answer is yes.
