I believe thailand has militant islamic groups in the south.. The last gov't was criticized for being heavy handed with them not more than a year ago when over 100 were killed.. I have read JI has operatives in southern Thailand (or siam - whatever one would like to call it)

Bert I tend to trust the information coming from "on site" more than the media - they're interested in selling papers, tv, radio, magazines and you are just interested in telling what you have heard...
Thank you all for your input and Manuel don't take it too personally that some think Thailand is a source of this - it's everywhere now, even the London underground, so Thailand, as beautiful as it is, won't be left out either.

if the diversion theory is correct (as u said bert, probably not something to be taken too seriously), the tsunami definitely ended that.. i've heard phuket tourism is still quite dismal..

all i can really add is if an attempt was made to cause mahem at an airport in Scotland ( with a population of 5-6million.) .. NO PLACE IS SAFE !!

SBY mentioned, that there wouldn't be a pardon for the bombers, who were sentenced to death. Said the Jakarta Post today.
