Default The Classic Example of "Karma"

Since we speak of karma on the one thread, something has been nagging at the back of my mind that it's almost stupid really.

In the weeks leading up to the Dem's convention (sorry, this is nothing to do with politics but unfortunately it's one example I could use right at this moment which happens to be political) - there was a fundamentalist Christian reporter who was calling for all Christians to pray for rain, so that Obama would be flooded out of the stadium on the night he was to give his speech. I'll see if I can dig up his plea on YouTube.

At the time I thought, what nonsense. Whatever God we believe in, He or She has better things to do, and your prayers could surely be put to much better use.

Well, when I started hearing about how Gustav was going to hit New Orleans on the same day the Republican convention was to start, I got this creepy little chill down my spine and instantly remembered that man who was praying for flooding rain.

In my spiritual path, as in many, there are sayings and beliefs about being careful what you wish for or pray for. There are also words of wisdom that say what you send out will return to you (I address this to Freogirl and mimpimanis).

I'm not saying this is exactly the case here, could be a fluke, nor am I in any way saying that anyone deserves the devastation that this hurricane will bring. I wish we could all pray hard enough to just make that damn thing go away or fizzle out or anything!.

But when "karma' is mentioned on this Forum, this sure is ironic.
(this is at my expense as I'm pro Rep.party but I just have to play fair by showing this and just being objective of the whole thing).

Let me get that youtube clip:

Yes, Milan, good point. I would add that, for the believers, this could be interpreted as either God being pissed-off at the gall of one of his (or her) lowly creatures, or that in his/her heart, God is a Democrat.

Sad to say that on both parties, there are scums.
But reciprocating to your video, here's another but this time by a Democrat. He's the head of DNC.

Maybe God(s) just started the ball rolling a very long time ago and that was that. We never really know, do we?

Ever considered an infinity of parallel universes?

Still struggling with concepts like the Big Bang, the Big Shrink, Steady-State, etc? I think most "normal" people can't get a handle on it, too. Even Einstein was confused for a while.

One of the biggest scientific questions of all time goes something like this:

How does your body know it's you?

Think about it...you might score a Nobel prize with the answer(s).

Notions of spooky omnipotent guys or gals up in the sky, somewhere, watching everything you do, day and night, are at least quaint. And why doesn't god have a website, or at least a handphone? Hmmm...

It doesn't. It clueless without me (Nobel Prize 1)

The question assumes body and mind are two, while they are one (Nobel Prize 2)

We were introduced at birth (Nobel prize 3)

Huh? What body? (Nobel prize 4)

Huh? What mind? (Nobel prize 5)

Today I am sad. I passed 3000 posts today, and nobody noticed. You are all banned for one day.

Deep stuff Sanurian, the most disturbing being "why doesn't God have a website?" This should be food for thoughts for the rest of the day. :?

    You sure about that?
Who and what is "me" then? (I mean "you".)

How do all the atoms, molecules, a length of DNA that stretches to the Moon and back constantly "re-group", if that's what happens and "remember" us all the time, until something decides to turn it off? I'm not sure about you, but I still think of "chemicals" as basically innate. Maybe they're not.

It took a while for people to figure out how DNA, which to all intents and purposes doesn't do all that much apart from replicating itself, passes on its "blueprint" information to our cells. The "answer" was RNA. It almost seems like bodies are mere receptacles for DNA, not the other way around.

Why so much DNA and so few answers?

All part of the mystery and miracle of Life.

    :D
