Hey Jim! Always great to hear from my buddy! Believe it or not, sitting here writing this AM, I am having my coffee out of the IOWA coffee mug that you were so generous to bring last visit. At that time, neither of us could imagine how your state would factor so importantly with Obama’s campaign.

Am I reading your post correctly, i.e. that you are not going to vote for either McCain or Obama? Who is your write in vote going to be for...Jesse Ventura?

You write,

“I can't believe that the U.S. is such a sexist country. That is the only reason that Hilary didn't win.”

Good grief...you sound just like Bill!

You also wrote,

“Also, Roy, when you mention that Bush has the lowest rating you must also remember the democratic controlled congress's rating is HALF of Bush's.”

Yup, and guess what the reason is? VETO! The democratic majority in congress is not significant and far less than required to override Bush’s veto powers. No wonder congress is weak.

As for your frustration with the status quo, I hear this all the time from every one I meet here coming from the states. Hmmmm, so maybe some real change is worth a try?

Two things happened in just the last 12 hours. One, is that Obama, now the leader of the democratic party has changed the rules of the party to not allow for ANY Pac or lobbyist money as donations to the National Democratic Committee. He promised change, and less than 48 hours after winning the democratic nomination, he has already keep one of his promises.

The other thing that happened is that a very sad milestone has just been reached...actually two milestones...one, there are now one million homes in America facing foreclosure, the other is that the equity value in US held real estate is at post WWII levels.

My bet is that Obama will announce his choices for his key cabinet posts PRIOR to the election November 4. I’m also betting that those choices will be bi-partisan, and represent the best possible talent to guide his Presidency. Take another look at Obama, Jim, because I think he offers a whole lot more than promises, promises.

Cheers buddy, and hugs for you and your wonderful family!

PS...I can already guess what you’ll be bringing to Bali on your next visit...Hillary coffee mugs! :P

Sour grapes, Jim Thorpe, much like a little kid who did not get his or her way: "I'm taking back my mabbles. I'm not playing with you any more. "
Keep on smiling.

Excellent “concession” speech by Hillary, IMHO. She clearly demonstrated that she is loyal to Obama's vision, the democratic party, and able to put her own personal aspirations aside.

This is the latest e-mail being circulated by Obama to his supporters:

Roy --

Hillary Clinton announced her support for our campaign today.

Senator Clinton made history over the past 16 months -- not just because she has broken barriers, but because she has inspired millions of Americans with her strength, her courage, and her commitment to causes like universal health care that make a difference in the lives of hardworking Americans.

Our party and our country are stronger because of the work she has done throughout her life, and I'm a better candidate for having had the privilege of competing with her.

Senator Clinton will be invaluable to our efforts to win in November, and I look forward to campaigning alongside her to bring this country the change it so desperately needs.
Hillary and her supporters are joining us at an urgent moment.

It's time for all of us to come together to take on John McCain in the general election. John McCain offers another four years of George Bush's policies, which our country simply cannot afford.

To win, we must continue building an unprecedented organization in all 50 states. And that will only happen if we all work together, side-by-side.

Thank you for joining this movement and supporting a new kind of politics. Together we can do more than just win an election. Together we can change this country, and we can change the world. And we are honored to have Hillary Clinton at our side as we do it.

Barack
