Bar a catastrophe of mega proportion, it's in the pocket for Oh!Bama. Some people would see Clinton as the V.P., but personally, I doubt it will happen. But not because of Bill also being in the White House, because he wont be. He will be kept busy as a roving ambassador and trouble shooter, a role he adores and is very good at it. However, I see a powerful Senate Majority Leader in Hillary Clinton, who would be a tremendously help to Obama with his domestic agenda.
Keep on smiling.

I think Hillary will take the VP position. That's my take. Oh well, I guess we will all find out real soon; as she said before, anything can happen....I'm certain her dreams are very interesting. Mimpi Manis

Hi Judy,

In my opinion, I don't believe Obama will offer the VP to H. Clinton. It would be good for the Democratic party and the registered Democrates, but it wouldn't be such a plus with the Independent voters. I think a John Edwards would be more palatable to the Independent Southerner electorate.

By the way, did you guys noticed that McCain is advertising on this Forum? How much, Bert? Shame on you, Bert.

This interesting little tidbit just landed in my inbox:

Roy --

You'll like this.

This morning someone forwarded me an email sent by the arm of the Republican Party that raises money for their Senate candidates. The subject of the message was "Democrats Win Landslide Victory," and the writer, Republican former Senator Bill Frist, admits: "I have a real
fear of waking up to this headline after the elections this fall."

He goes on to explain fears among Washington power brokers about Barack Obama's grassroots support and voter registration efforts.

He's right to be worried -- we're bringing new people into the process, and Obama supporters are organizing in communities across the country like never before.

Here's a little bit more from Frist's email:

From: Senator Bill Frist, M.D.
Date: Thu, May 29, 2008 at 3:59 PM
Subject: "Democrats Win Landslide Victory"

Dear Republican Supporter,

I have a real fear of waking up to this headline after the elections this fall. [...]
In key states, news accounts indicate Democrats are outpacing Republicans registering voters. We also know Barack Obama's campaign is utilizing the Internet to raise record amounts of money to support his campaign and Democrats nationally ... all in the hope that new voters and record resources will produce a Democrat landslide victory this fall.

There's so much at risk, and conservatives I talk with from all across the country are feeling the rumblings of "what could be." [...] [...] I ask for your immediate help in supporting Republican candidates running for U.S. Senate by making a contribution of $10, $25, $50 or even $100 to the NRSC. [...]

___________________________________________________________________________

What's amazing about this message referencing Barack Obama is that it's not from the McCain campaign. It's not even about the presidential race. It's about the forces of the status quo, who don't want to change the way Washington works, worried about the prospect of ordinary people taking their rightful place in a political process that is too often dominated by lobbyists and special interests.

They've seen the writing on the wall, and they know that when Barack is the nominee, we're going to continue building a movement for change to elect Barack Obama and bring about change from the bottom up at every level of office.

WELL! There we are! It's a done deal! Obama will be the 2008 Democratic candidate for US President. History was made in the US today...and of the kind to be proud of!

there's nothing more i would like to see than President Obama come the fall.. do i think it will happen? not a chance in hell.. (then again, i guess i'll be eatin my own shorts if it does seeing as i'm posting this here now and if he does win people will be pointing to this post saying, eat your own words balilife.. )

I like the guy a lot, and i sure as heck like him a more than hillary, who got very dirty very quickly.. and i like him an infinite amount more than i could any republican candidate..

BUT - he's black..

that sounds terrible - and trust me when i say that if i were an american that wouldnt affect my vote at all - he'd have it. BUT everyone knows, to win a US election you need to clinch those moderate conservatives who make up the middle-ground.. i.e. the 10-15% of the swing voters.. 40-45% of the vote always goes to the democrats, and 40-45% of the vote always goes to the criminals.. sorry, to the republicans.. to win a presidential election, you need to swing that 10-20% of moderate conservatives to your side.. unfortunately this group (generally speaking of course), tend to hold some 'traditional prejudices' - and when it comes time, that rotten old b*stard mccain will have his indirect smear campaigners playing the race card - and i think mccain will clinch it.. the same wouldve been true for hillary, but it would have been the sex card, not the race card..

i think the democrats have made a mistake.. it's a courageous mistake, in that i like what it stands for - anybody, black or white, male or female can lead our party if they are qualified.. the problem is that in reality, you're not convincing democrats to vote for obama coz they already will by default - you're trying to convince a group of people who probably have reservations about sending a black man to the oval office..

i always liked edwards - i actually thought he should've been running for the #1 job in 2004 with kerry as vp.. so i hope they pick edwards for the vp job - i think if they're going to have a chance at capturing those moderates, they need a 'good old wholesome southerner' in their camp - i like edwards, not because he's a southerner - but because he's a very sincere individual... and i think he has a better chance of appealing to those in the middle, that hillary does.. if it's hillary / obama - the conservative tendencies in those moderates will have two reasons to vote for mccain - 1. the prospect of a black president and 2. the prospect of a female vp..

but i sincerely hope i'm wrong about the intellect of the american voters - i sincerely hope that obama will be the next president of the US, regardless of who the vp is..

Here, you have it...
BBC News, June 4, 2008

"Barack Obama has pledged unwavering support for Israel in his first foreign policy speech since declaring himself the Democratic nominee for president.

He told the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a prominent Jewish lobby, Israel's security was 'sacrosanct' and 'non-negotiable'."

We all know what 'unwavering support' (of Israel) means...Or is it just more campaign rhetoric?

A rhetorical question: "Why should Oh!Bama address AIPAC rather than the AFL-CIO, or any other American organisation, on the day following his victory?" I believe Mearsheimer and Walt were on to something...
Keep on smiling.

Yes. Support of oppression, discrimination and the outright theft of Palestinian land. He's sounding like he's President already

Tintin, I think (from what I just heard on CNN...the Situation Room) that the timing of that speech was only because of the scheduling of the AIPAC meeting, AND the fact that Hillary Clinton was also scheduled to address (and did) that same group. But, at the same time I was listening, we were getting our boys ready for school, so I may have that wrong.

On a practical basis, Obama has to present himself as a candidate for US President as being in line with past foreign policy in regards to Israel. He has no other choice. However, what Obama will do as President, is to engage through intense diplomacy, the sworn enemies of Israel, and I’m betting that he will be expecting far, far more out of Israel than the Bush administration ever did in the past.

“there's nothing more i would like to see than President Obama come the fall.. do i think it will happen? not a chance in hell..”

BaliLife, I’ve got two $100 bets that I made back in January that Obama will be the next President of the US. If you care to join in on a bet, you are more than welcome.

The two most important issues on the minds of the vast majority of Americans are the economy, and Iraq. Bush’s approval rating is the lowest of any American President at any time in past American history. Those factors clearly spell out a political party change in the oval office.

Some 36 million voters turned out for the Democratic primaries. That is the highest voter turn out for any Presidential primary election in American History. Yesterday was another first in American history, that being the nomination of a black as Presidential candidate in a major political party. History is being made every step of the way during the electoral process of this period...and more history will be made on November 4.

The writing is on the wall, and actually, the writing has been on the wall for quite some time. The outcome, barring some catastrophe, is inevitable.

I agree completely, he has no choice at this point - let's just hope is shows a little more subjectiveness than his predecessors should he win.

Regarding the bet Roy, I'm in - its a bet I hope to lose. What's the deal? $US 100? At least if mccain wins, I'll have $100 to console me:)

OK, you’re on! This gives me a little extra incentive to make sure I get all the absentee votes for Obama down to the Consulate office for the diplomatic pouch back to the states. :D

I can't believe that the U.S. is such a sexist country. That is the only reason that Hilary didn't win. Here is a woman that has put her time in, moved up the ranks, did what the leaders of her party wanted and then at the last minute she is pushed aside by some wet behind the ears, little experienced MAN. This is becoming a sad country... Sarcasm intended...
Roy, I am doing a write in vote...Do you want me to vote for you?

Also, Roy, when you mention that Bush has the lowest rating you must also remember the democratic controlled congress's rating is HALF of Bush's. I think you have seen a change in attitude from me regarding the whole political community and I think this feeling is spread throughout the country. Screw them all.
So I ask you again, you want my vote?
