Tintin, I think (from what I just heard on CNN...the Situation Room) that the timing of that speech was only because of the scheduling of the AIPAC meeting, AND the fact that Hillary Clinton was also scheduled to address (and did) that same group. On a practical basis, Obama has to present himself as a candidate for US President as being in line with past foreign policy in regards to Israel. He has no other choice. However, what Obama will do as President, is to engage through intense diplomacy, the sworn enemies of Israel, and I’m betting that he will be expecting far, far more out of Israel than the Bush administration ever did in the past.
“there's nothing more i would like to see than President Obama come the fall.. do i think it will happen? not a chance in hell..”
BaliLife, I’ve got two $100 bets that I made back in January that Obama will be the next President of the US. If you care to join in on a bet, you are more than welcome.
The two most important issues on the minds of the vast majority of Americans are the economy, and Iraq. Bush’s approval rating is the lowest of any American President at any time in past American history. Those factors clearly spell out a political party change in the oval office.
Some 36 million voters turned out for the Democratic primaries. That is the highest voter turn out for any Presidential primary election in American History. Yesterday was another first in American history, that being the nomination of a black as Presidential candidate in a major political party. History is being made every step of the way during the electoral process of this period...and more history will be made on November 4.
The writing is on the wall, and actually, the writing has been on the wall for quite some time. The outcome, barring some catastrophe, is inevitable.
