Default Schoolie attacked by shark in Bali

A teen celebrating schoolies in Bali has been attacked by a shark.

Mark Andrews was surfing with schools friends at a beach near Tabanan when he was attacked at about 1.30pm yesterday. The 18 year old was bitten on his right hand and required emergency surgery.

He was undergoing treatment at the Bali International Medical Clinic last night.

BIMC emergency department nurse Romi Putu, who treated the teen, said there did not appear to be any nerve or tendon damage.

Mr Andrews is expected to make a full recovery once surgeons stitched up his hand.

Wonder how they knew it was a shark .. and not a piece of construction wood filled with nails or something like that ?

Hmmmm.......this surprises me, I honestly would have thought that any shark or crocodile or tiger or any dangerous large creature (or most creatures in general, for that matter) would have been killed off in Bali a long, long time ago. Certainly in that stretch of ocean, anyway. Great news if it was indeed a shark and I hope it didn't get food poisoning.

Seems like it may not have even been a shark.

It is unclear whether the local man was inferring his injuries could have been from wiping out and hitting the reef below rather than being inflicted by a shark.

And you have to love this: "Mr Andrews, who denied selling his story to Channel Nine, declined to comment further."
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat drinking beer all day.

Yup the Tigers & croc's are gone .. there is however still some sharks left here .. for how long .. who knows .. their fins are big $$ ..

"I was speaking to an Indo bloke yesterday and where we were surfing was right in font of a river-mouth and he said it was a stone shark,''

I fish quite a bit here .. seen brown whalers, thresher sharks, grey reef , whale sharks .. never of or seen "stone sharks"

If it was a shark .. concour .. hope it didn't get food poisoning
