A Charles Darwin University researcher is urging Bali holiday makers to take care after his research found a large number of local people had died due to crazy traffic since a police-strike
in 2008.
CDU School of Environmental and Life Science Dr Rama Jayaraj has returned from Indonesia where he was conducting research on the high risk of getting on a bike or in a car,
and human deaths in Bali.
Dr Jayaraj said that although the traffic was recognised as abnormal, it was one of the most significant Human Humanosis (transmittable from humans to humans) of all time and
continued to affect tens of millions of people worldwide.
“The control of traffic is crucial, as almost all humans on this Island take part in it", he said.
As the lead researcher Dr Jayaraj collaborated with Professor Wayan Batan and Dr Abdul Azis from Udyana University in Denpasar, Bali. They investigated the District Health Centres in the South of Kuta, the district of the original traffic-madness outbreak in 2008.
Dr Jayaraj said that he and his team were shocked to find that thousands of people ride around without helmets and many people had died in two and a half years from 2008 to 2011.
“Traffic-Madness seem to be recurring in many areas where it had once been controlled, possibly because of increasing population density and mobility of people, with thousands of
people in Bali at risk of this traffic madness,” he said.
“Most of the victims are local, living in rural parts of Bali, with not access to hospitals.”
don't read between the lines..i think the words are clear enough...:)
This has to be one of the worst researched articles I've ever read, all the information is at least 2 years old, theres no mention of the recent cullings and vaccinations that have brought the number of deaths down to less that 15 for 2011.
I like how it says
He could have googled that info and saved himself a plane trip to Balihis research found a large number of local people had died due to rabid dog bites since a rabies outbreak in 2008.
I nominate Dr Rama Jayaraj for the Nobel Prize in Medicine 2012.![]()
Keep on smiling.
