Hi all.
I am trying to find the simplest way for my father to listen to Radio Australia.
We receive it through Idonsat in the living room however he wants to listen in his bedroom (no TV).
Radio Aust website provides a couple of partner stations that rebroadcast (some?) programs and satellite instructions sound complicated - so far my limited research into satellite radio has left me more confused than I was when I started.
Has anyone got any suggestions, before I go and invest in equipment? BTW, I already have an AM/FM clock radio (a multi-media thingy that I bought as speakers to listen to my much loved and now lost Iphone).
We live in Prerenan, Canggu....if that helps.
Any advice (101 style) would be appreciated.
Cheers and thanks.
I had a look at the Radio Australia website and out of all of those options maybe a shortwave radio would be best - if you can still buy one?
The only partner station in Bali is: Radio Super (Denpasar) 105.2
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat drinking beer all day.
Seems getting a one to two plug for your coaxial cable, an extension lead and a small cheap TV for the bedroom may be the only answer and I think probably cheaper than getting a short wave radio. Or you could buy extension speakers or head phones for the TV in the living room. You can get wireless headphones.
The back of the Indovision box has the red/white/yellow connectors that you use to many TV's and also has a co-ax out that could feed to another TV in another room. BUT you only see the same channel. So for the extra TV to be on Radio Australia, the main one must also be on Radio Australia - but probably someone wants to actually see some TV.
Then you could get 2 Inodvision boxes - but that is not cheap.
Thanks to all for the help. Don't watch much TV, particularly in the morning when my father usually wants to listen to the radio. So I'll scour Bali Advertiser for a cheap TV and grab some co-ax cable. I really am a technical moron....any advice on where I go to get co-ax cable?
Cheers
I still think a SW radio is a good option. Surely you can buy one for $20 - $50 and your father could listen to it anywhere he wants.

Tried SW radio when we lived in Cambodia....buggered if I could ever get the damn thing tuned. Wasn't just my general incompetence either, plenty of capable people tried help to no avail. Could be an option though - I guess I could see if the person in the shop can tune it in before I buy it.
Might try Ace Hardware and Carrefour...see if anyone can help me (call me cynical but I don't like my chances). I can prob buy Co-ax cable there if SW proves to complicated - have you seen the dials on the those things!
I'll also price another box from Indosat - might be easier to hang the expense instead of the co-ax.
I think Indovision is sure to get it for you and the cost is known.
Another option is Internet. If you have some form of Internet connection that is a reasonable speed, then you can stream Radio Australia liive. See Radio Australia:Ways to Listen. Of course that means you need some computer with reasonable speakers, but if you need Internet and a computer anyway, then this may be an option. You probaably need some form of unlimited Internet connection - not one with a tight download limit.
