Johnny Rockets, a US fast-food chain, on Monday signed a franchising agreement with the Sahid Group to open the first Indonesian outlet of its kind on Bali.
The signing was part of the US Commercial Service Trade Mission’s two-day trip to Indonesia, which brought 12 US companies representing 16 franchise brands that seek to expand business with prospective partners here.
The Sahid Group, through its subsidiary Riyanti Investama International, will be the Indonesian franchise owner of Johnny Rockets, which serves a menu including hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, sides and shakes.
Riyanti plans to open the first outlet at Kuta’s Beach Walk Center in April 2012. The agreement calls for four additional restaurants in the next five years, with one planned for Jakarta.
Wiryanti Sukamdani, vice president of Riyanti, said the group sees strong prospects for the food and beverage business.
“We see Johnny Rockets has its own unique service; apart from serving good food, they also provide entertainment through music and dancing,” she said in a statement on Monday.
“This Indonesian agreement further demonstrates our commitment to international development,” John Fuller, the chief executive officer of Johnny Rockets, said in the same statement.
Johnny Rockets currently operates restaurants in 16 countries on five continents.
