As for the best western food in Candi you might also want to try Vincents, also on the main drag - run by a couple of Dutch guys they have a smaller menu than the Water Garden but what they serve is excellent!
Thanks mark, that is a shame, but what can one say, dont turn around in Bali, u will lose your way!!!
Vincents, uhmm dont order the lobster, its frozen, and when it is delivered via plate to your table, it has been in the microwave!!!!!!!!! GROSS....
    but everything else is ok.
I have just learnt that pleasing everyone is impossible. But, pissing them off is a piece of cake

(not the two legged kind) had bites all over me, large welts which took days to stop itching. Major complaints from me, reply a toss of the head.

So that's my comment on this place, the only good thing is the beach, yes there is one actually left, and it is quite large, great for getting rid of the itches!!!
AMAZING!!! Restaurants and hotels can collapse in no time and I should have known better than to recommend a place I had not seen in 3 years... Amarta Restaurant was one of my favorites in/near C.D. I knew the French owner well, Catherine, married to a Balinese guy. She also owned the Darimana Restaurant, near Monkey Forest, in Ubud, but she closed it down in 2004, because it was not doing well. I never understood why, since the food was excellent and relatively inexpensive, but it was always empty, expect for few regulars (of which I was) and some lost tourists. Maybe she sold Amerta also.
    Keep on smiling.

Thanks all - Water Garden looks really good. Has any of you tried Le 48?
