I need meat. Makes my bones look better. But don't eat the stuff. Any vegetarian restaurants or dishes that anyone would like to recommend welcome.
Occasionally, I like to eat at Café Tahu in Jl. Petitenget, Kerobokan. As the name suggests, it specialises in tofu or "tahu" dishes, although some meat dishes are also available.Originally Posted by shebitme

I LOVEEEEE Tofu and Tempe in any form! Can't get enough of it.
Does anyone of you guys know, how safe it is now to buy the fresh soya produce from the local markets? We sometimes buy the ones in Pasar Taman Sari at the corner of Jl. Legian and Jl. Marlboro and simply fry or cook them at home.
Tastes delicious for sure! Especially with home-made sambal, made from Chalots and other fine stuff.
I'm just not so sure about MSG and all the rumours about formaldehyd and other chemicals, which were reported a while back to be in locally sold soya.
Hm....
mmm i love tempe! i've bought it here in australia and was so disappointed! its very bitter no where near as nice as bali. i cant wait til next year, having the freedom of eating tempe every day!
and the Balinese tempe is nowhere near as nice as the Lombok tempe! I dont know what makes the difference in taste but we dont even bother with tempe unless someone brings some over from Lombok.

really? i havent been to lombok yet! plan on going next year when i do my extended bali/indo trip. you've got me excited mimpi manis!
I have to get fluent in asking 'Is that vegetarian?' in Bahasa. Last time I was over, I ended up eating Gado-Gado every day, heh.
I'm back in March, and will be doing my best to try everything else vegetarian as well. :)
