Default Where to buy a great Cheesecake?

    Hi all.

A friend's birthday coming up and she loves Cheesecake! Anyone got any suggestions on where I might find a really good one?

Total threadjack - but is it possible to get cream cheese there?

If you can't find a good place that sells it and can find cream cheese, they are pretty easy to make. I can make a kick arse cheesecake in my sleep now :D

    Hi Tiggy,

Are you talking Philadelphia cream cheese? If so yes, it's easy to get.

I haven't made a cheesecake in twenty years but I guess I could grab a recipe and make one - it's actually quite a nice idea.

I still need suggestions on where I can buy a good one as there is every chance I'll either be too busy or to slack...and won't get around to it.

    Cheers

Oh god that has made me a very happy chicka knowing I can get cream cheese over there. Was a bit worried about some of the dairy not being accessible.

Sorry I'm no help, and good luck!

In Sanur Billy & Gael at the Duck's Nutz (Jalan Tamblingan) make great cheesecake. Nadia at Warung Kesari also turns out a very good cheesecake.
Actually they also sell it at Warung Ratu which his about 100 metres from where I live. However to be honest I only go to those 3 places for the cold beer.

Cheers, thanks No Idea. I'll try Duck's Nutz or make one like Tiggy suggested.

Hi Latah, not sure where you live. But if it's in Ubud's area, you can get a nice cheesecake (different flavours, eg. blueberry etc) at White Box on Jalan Raya Andong. Look up for the contact details at the Ubud page in Bali Advertiser. Best would be to call and order. Believe me, you won't regret it.
    To Tiggy:
Philadelphia cream cheese is available here - but very expensive, about 100,000 per pack - imagine how expensive your homemade cheesecake will be. Using at least 4 packs of Philly. I make my NYC cheesecake using the local cream cheese from Yummy - works fine. Price is less than half. And you can use the Sari Gandum bisquit instead of graham crackers.

Bon Appetit - hope this helps.

    Hi Zoyra.

I'm in Canggu. I have until tomorrow for someone to tell me that the best Cheesecake in Bali is in fact just around the corner - which I know ain't going to happen. So it looks like it is off to Ubud or Sunar with me....slack as it may seem, I just can't see myself getting around to making one at the moment.

    Cheers.

The best cheesecake I've had in Bali was from Ruth's Desserts. Not the cheapest, but definitely the tastiest. Available from Canggu Deli and they also deliver.
