    Default Warning SATE!

Ok I've tried and tried to love it but I'm just about to give up - last night again - went by a Sate seller and the smell was just soooo good I gave in to my better judgement and bought a fistful of sate sticks.

Is it me? Paying anywhere from 750 to 1000 IDR per stick I've found that you usually get about 5 objects on each stick made up of 2 parts small gristly something each side of what can only be said to be either chicken asshole, beak, toenails, flap of skin or some other unidentifiable piece of local fauna.

    The sauce is great though.

Bought a whole chicken from Hardys and I figure I could probably get around 200/400 sate stick out of it - now that aint bad business there guys. Here's the calculations for all you aspiring business types out there - 300 x 850 = 255,000; said chicken in Hardys cost 25,000!! 9 fold profit - OK pedants the sauce is extra - but good!

    Don't anybody tell Bill Gates!

Thats why I don't buy it, more than half of it is chicken fat or skin. Its even worse when they throw in a stick with liver and kidney when your not looking. Theres a place in Singaraja called Gandi owned by Chinese that does a good Sate, all chicken... or maybe cat.. what ever.. its meat and it tastes good.

Aren't you talking about the same place as Gilbert mentioned?

We went to a food court in Malaysia and there was a guy cooking chicken on a rotesserie and there was a dish on the menu "chicken bishop". I had never tried it, but it looked quite delicious. Well it tasted good but was very fatty. I had never had chicken with so much fat so it was quite strange?

I looked it up when I got home and found that it is "buntut ayam" here and seems to be quite popular here.

Most of the sate shops in Lovina seem to be kambing, which I didn't like the first time I tried it. One shop apparently is better than others and the taste is not bad. There seem to be very few places just selling chicken sate.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat drinking beer all day.

I think so, I've never tried the Pork Steak Special there though, I usually get Sate or Ayam Goreng Mentega. Good thing about Ghandi is its only a 2 minute walk from the in-laws.

yeah..I think we mean the same resto makan gandhi or just gandhi...across from electronics store columbia, on the little square/parking on the right back corner..
btw, they can also serve the dish with ayam, but tried it twice and two times the chicken was very dry.

@spicyayam...the buntut-ayam....that 'fatty' part is the 'tail' of the chicken..Meta loves to eat that part, side-effect (told to her by her grandmother) is however, you can get 'pikun'.
