    Default Vegetarian dishes

Does anyone have a definitive list of vegetarian dishes I can try in Bali when I'm back in March? Last time, I found the usual Tahu Goreng and Gado Gado, but I really want to try as many as I can.

I'm staying in Ubud and Sanur, so may hunt down local vegetarian places as well, however prefer markets and warung where possible.

    Thanks for your help!

    Miles.

Many Indonesians eat rice and vegetables, some because they cannot afford other than tempe-tahu but few are vegetarians by choice or at least I have not come across many. I think that you may have little choice but as I am sure you are aware tempe is full of protein.

I would be interested in other vegetable dishes you may find. Good Luck

Pelecing kankung is a typical Lombok dish but can also be found on Bali. At its most basic it is water spinish served with sambal but can also be served with coconut and tempe and possibly more. I am not a fan but my husband is.

    Mimpimanis,

You are correct, pelecing kankung is readily available in Bali. Right across the street from the Istana Tampaksiring (the palace built by Soekarno), there is a small, anonymous warung which serves this simple dish with the most delicious sambal I have ever eaten in Bali. And since I am not vegetarian, I add some ayam goreng to the dish. GREAT lunch! Actually, I have more than once driven from Ubud to the Istana just to enjoy this most excellent lunch at the warung. :)

    Mimpimanis,

What spelling mistakes? I did not see any, and besides, I am not a good speller myself, as I always mix the French and English spellings, such as exemple (fr.) and example (eng.) (Darn, would you believe I just mixed it up again, even in my present example, and I had to correct it?
