    Default Finger Food

Ok, I need some help with ideas for finger food for a childrens birthday party.

Bare in mind it can't be spicy, we have no oven or grill only two gas rings & I want to prepare it several hours before and serve cold.

The obvious things on my list so far, are chicken drumletts, sandwiches, pizza (delivered), crackers and cheese, as well as snacks, jellies, cake etc. But I would like to have some more savoury food ideas. Its easy in UK you can buy everything ready made and just serve or heat and serve. And for adult parties, which we have quite often, we have a standard set of dishes we do but I'm stumped with this.

I was going to get sweet sate but all those little sticks with a house full of kiddies put me off.

    Any other suggestions appreciated.

Tiny sausages or saveloy type things. We called them little boys and dipped them in tomato sauce.:)
Halve some oranges, carefully remove orange leaving half shell skin. Fill skin with coloured jelly. Cut in half or leave as jelly cups. :)
Sputniks.. Put a cube of cheese, luncheon sausage, (cocktail onion ??) on a toothpick and put them all in a grapefruit like a sputnik. :)
    Cold mini meatballs,
tiny club sandwiches cut into funny shapes with a cookie cutter
    mini quiches

I love a party Marty
my karma ran over my dogma

Mimpi manis i would love to help of course with the menus for children party as long i remember children love cheese food as i had nieces and little cousins when one of the family celebrate birthday or any occasion make a little cups of cheese cup cake like muffins look like and springkle cheese. they also love chocolate cake like I love chocolate too to be honest :|.
children love chicken nuggets do they and chips wonder why they keep eating this kinda food without make them bored as a finger foods.
Dont forget lollies, some little spring rolls ( as savory )and pasta with cheese . see once again i mentioned cheese caused i dont know why it seem children always pick up this kinda meal.
And maybe gift bags at the end of the party with all little children toys and lollies.
    Hope this is help :)

Thanks for the ideas Bolli & Chintia....

I cant find little sausages here, I had thought of that one. Had also thought about cheese and pinepple on cocktails sticks ( so naff but apparently making a come back when I googled finger food) however the sticks again, with little children....

jellies - are bought ones but I like the idea of putting them in orange skins next time!

Sandwiches... yep will definitely have lots of little sandwiches :)

Mini quiches..... great idea... have you seen any ready made?? We have no oven.

I have 12 packets of chicken drumletts (small drumsticks) so that will do for chicken, not nuggets as well.

Lollies - yep got sweets, lollipops, crisps, popcorn, biscuits.....

Spring rolls is a good idea.... they sell them in Carrefour (easy)

Pasta.... not such a good finger food. Messy with the little ones.

Im going to get some pizzas delivered too....

The goodie bags were the first thing I had planned and they have been made up for weeks now :-)

I think all the foods mentioned here should be enough. Don't do it like I used to where they were too much and just go to waste.
Children love to play so provide games, entertainments, etc.

Simple and easy to prepare instead of making the whole sandwiches, here are very effortless tid-bits/canapes to prepare.
Spread thousand islands and a piece of bacon on slices of bread and cut into four, serve.
You can also spread cheese(italian caprino if there is) and tuna with parsley (more for grown-ups).
Then some more with garlic mayonnaise, a slice of tomato and herbs such as thyme, origano (again, for grown-ups).

Don't forget ice creams. Messy but yummy for all.

    Thanks Milan

You made me thnk of the mini cornettos I will get a few boxes of them.

No bacon, as I will be having muslim children as well as hindu.

I have crackers, that I will do some of the ideas you suggested, on as well.

Yes planning on games and have a little collection of prizes prepared and certificates made on the computer :D

I usually do have too much food.... I would rather have too much than too little but it never goes to waste,
