    Default Cozy Resto Restaurant, Lovina

Would love to see member reviews of restaurants that are worth a visit. So here is one.

Cozy Resto is 3.5 Km from Singaraja in the direction of Lovina. The attached Google Earth map shows how to get there. There is only one set of traffic lights between Singaraja and Lovina - turn right and the restaurant is on the left near the beach. (Don't confuse it with another Cozy Resto west of Lovina at the turn-off to the Sing-Sing Falls. This one does not have a restaurant in operation.)

It is a large restaurant and last night was busy with mostly Indonesians - I guess a mix of locals and domestic tourists. The food is really good, Chinese in style, and we had satays, stir fries and a tofu hot-pot. The prices are great with prawn dishes Rp25,000, Squid dishes Rp22,500, Chicken dishes under Rp20,000 - and a large Bintang Rp25,000. There was no extra plus-plus for tax-service.

Try it if you are in the north.

Nice one Ron I often go there. There is one on the same road but oppisite which [in my opinion] is very good. I forget the name now but opposite the turn to the new BTN houses. It mainly caters for locals and I belive owned by Rini [ from Rini hotel Lovina]. Very good food and value. I recommend it. Also there is a fish restaurant on the other road that goes to the beach at Pemaron, music studio upstairs. [ to the west of the other road. On the left before the fishing village as you head to the beach] Great value again and mostly catering for locals. Had a great meal with my wife, 2 huge fish and drinks came to 60,000. Quite a few cats around though. Hardly surprising.

I've been to both places a few times and can recommend both. Cozy Resto is always full of cats and theres a well natured bali dog in there sometimes. Doesn''t bother me though.

Spice Dive is also a good place to eat, my mate Immanuel owns the place. Its just off the main road down a drive. They have a local chef who trained in England. I always get the Chicken and Wine

I do like the idea of BaliPod restaurant reviews so I'll add one.
Recently we went to a new restaurant in Ubud, Taco Casa n Grill, on Jl Raya Pengosekan. I had read some good reviews but was still a little dubious since we've lived in the southern US and know what we think good TexMex should taste like. It didn't let us down. I don't believe I ever had a Mexican meal as good in all the years we lived in Australia.
The menu isn't too long and they are concentrating on quality. The chef worked for a time in the US and learned a bit about cooking TexMex food and it shows. I had the burrito and Bob had enchiladas. Both were delicious and we'll be going back again. The prices are not as cheap as a local warung but not too expensive either, especially considering the quality of the food.
    Try it; you'll like it.

Thanks for this, Poly - I've been eyeing at this place. Will definitely go there now. What do you think of Mamas Nuris? Nice combination of mexican and ribs - and the place is better than naughty nuri.

We haven't tried Mama Nuri's but based on your recommendation we will. Isn't it just down the street from Naughy Nuri's? Bob likes Naughy Nuri's but I like it only on Thursday night when I can get the grilled tuna.

Hi Polly, yes Mama's is better for ribs than Nuri's even though it is owned by the same guy... I went out the back at Nuri's about six months ago, toilet trip....I would never ever eat there again, not clean enough toilets and kitchen; it caters totally for tourists, so would think that this would be a priority (IMHP) and too too busy. Chops are good at Mama's, but dont order a hamburger, takes 30 minutes and they are usually burned to a crisp!!!

Yes, that Mexican is to die for, very clean and big serves, great fresh food. I went to the opening, and have become a regular...and yes, for someone with a toilet fetish (me ) THEY ARE CLEAN!!!!!
I have just learnt that pleasing everyone is impossible. But, pissing them off is a piece of cake
