Sate Babi!!! (I eat it every day when in Bali)

Postby BaliLife on Thu Jun 28, 2007 9:13 pm

i don't know the name of the place, but it's within 150m of Warung Wardani in denpasar.. they also sell bakso.. but the sate babi is heavenly.. on my first ever trip to bali back in 2000, when i first tried it, we ate there at midday.. in the afternoon we were going up to bedegul.. i bought 150 extra.. they were finished within 3 hours.. and i think i was the only one eating them...

nowdays, i control myself and limit it to 10 (standard serving) per sitting..

directions: if u're standing in front or wardani (with your back to Wardani), it's on your left down about 150m.. on the opposite side of the road on a corner.. not pretty to look at but always busy..

O My. ., Warung Wardani was close to my house in Denpasar. I haven't been in Bali or in Indonesia for a long time now. I bet lot of changes have occured since the mid 90's.
Is warung Wardani still located across from Banjar Tampakgangsul?

Plecing satay on Jalan Arjuna
celebrities favorite in Denpasar.
A plecing satay food stall managed by Made Citra Yasa uses ground chilli sambal and garlic which are not so bad in terms of taste. As well as pork and beef plecing satay, the food stall also sells soto babat soup and meatball. The price is relatively affordable, 10 skewers of satay and steam rice are yours with only Rp 8,000. the food stall is always jam-packed with visitors, especially during lunch time and holidays. The eatery opens daily from 8.00 in the morning until 6.00 in the evening. Made Citra said that in a day he could sell 1,000 skewers of satay. “On public holidays, the figure increases. Sometimes we could not handle it. Moreover, our parking lot is narrow,” Made Citra said. The food stall’s popularity makes many similar eateries established nearby, but the owner emphasizes that his food stall does not open any branch. Several celebrities have enjoyed the food stall’s dishes, suck as Ari Wibowo, Glen Fredly, Happy Salma, and Huges. Even if you are not celebrities, you are welcomed to come anytime whenever visiting Denpasar and try the food stall’s specialty.More Balinese Culinary goto baliniku[dot]com

Obviously, I am out of order, since I am talking about Sate Kambing, in a Sate Babi discussion (I beg Bert's indulgence). However, I must intrude and point out a little "warung," actually a place on the side of the street, with a tarpaulin over two tables, two long benches, and the "kitchen," at the end of Jl Segara, just before the Beach Market, in Sanur. It is run by a very nice Ibu, from Madura of course, with the help of very pleasant ladies. It serves excellent Sate Kambing, which, together with a Gule Kambing, "hit the spot" for lunch (Cheap & Good). :D
Keep on smiling.
