When next in Bali we are having a small celebration with approximately 20 guests attending. It will be a mix of Australian and Indonesian friends / family.

We are undecided as to whether we will hold it in a private villa or a restaurant.

If we go with the villa option I was wondering if anyone knows of catering companies that could accomodate our needs food wise and also glasses - wine / champagne / spirits. Prefer glass to plastic.

Basically we want finger type food that people can easily eat / self serve. I guess we had in mind things like small satays / spring rolls / sushi, any other suggestions appreciated.

Its easy enough to purchase items for fruit and cheese platters myself and also dips, olives etc. Easy to buy our own alcohol / soft drinks / juice etc and put on ice.

If we go down the path of a restaurant would like beach frontage in Seminyak area. Had been considering La Lucciola / Anatara? Main concern is that if we use a restaurant to ensure only our guests drinks are put on our bill. Food would be pre ordered and paid for.

So any suggestions out there would be very much appreciated. Where to buy / contact details with email or phone number and restaurant suggestions. Looking forward to see what you come back with.

We’ve used this catering approach several times...for parties at our home and for exhibition openings.

My advice is to think about the restaurants you personally enjoy the best and that are in the area closest to the villa where you will host this event. Talk to the owner/manager or “boss man” and see what you can work out. Many restaurants will not cater a private villa affair, but others will.

In addition, there are a number of expats who do this sort of thing on “low key” basis. Finding them is generally by word of mouth.

Villa parties are always much more fun than hosting a party at a restaurant.

I was at a catered function on Saturday night. The food was very good.

The caterers had leaflets and I picked one up
