My subconscious pricked
My newly trained ear
"Mau salingkuh?"
I heard him sneer
I stopped and turned
a paralyzing stare
The n'er do wells
of Kuta Square
Fixed on the culprit
His countenance lewd
"Berani bilang lagi?"
His demeanour crude
Kelihatan di bawah
Dia tidak mau
"Aku dari Bali"
"From where art thou?"
"Jangan membuat masalah"
Her gentle prod
If not for that
I swear to God
Home to Sanur
Our villa serene
A safe retreat
A long held dream
Through the gate
And up the stair
An almighty smell
Pervades the air
Damn you tokek!
I've set my mind
Bangsat from hell
I resolve to find
Search all the rooms
Where can he be?
Dia sembunyi
Dibelakang wc
I grab a towel
And scare him out
He snaps and snarls
He writhes about
"Membunuh dia"
"Make him pay"
Friday in the mosque
Was whacking day
I hesitate to act
Should he die?
The Buddha, the dharma
The all seeing eye
Far from the house
I set him free
"And don't come back"
My advice to thee
Enough for one day
Tidak mau diganggu
Istri come to bed
Tolong mati lampu
Pagi pagi bangun
Dan mau mandi
I spot him again!
Dibelakang wc
"Mengapa kembali?"
Tidak bisa percaya
The unblinking eye
His countenance dire
"Di tempat lain"
"Aku tidak mau"
"Aku dari Bali"
"From where art thou?"

Impressive, and MOST creative! Also, very enjoyable. Bert! How about a "poet's corner" for the forum?
All I can say is:
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And I took the one less traveled by.
Now, if only someone had only warned me that road led to Bali! :P
On the trip from Jakarta to Hamburg i read "Bali" from Putu Wijaya ... very good ... he speak about this theme ... about bali, orang bali etc.
"Indonesia: Jauh di mata, dekat di hati"
