Hmm I don't know any, I knew a woman a few years back but she's gone home.

To be honest though I only know a few expats outside of these forums and they own business's

I'm surprised you don't know anyone << who works in Bali >> without the proper paper work. Do you live in Bali?
lived in Bali now for a couple of years, first and second year on a KITAS/workpermit (but didn't work)...
and same as BKT..I too only know expats who own businesses here...or own businesses abroad... or are retired, either way they don't work on Bali.

I know of some that do the six months here - six months abroad, they work to finance the six months Bali again..but again they don't work here.

So how many expats do you know, that work with or without the proper KITAS?
don't read between the lines..i think the words are clear enough...:)

Only one actually + two who own a business but don't have a KITAS.

When I was working in East Bali I knew more without a KITAS than with.

I personnally wouldn't want to risk working without the proper paperwork

If it is the first, then no, you will not find a job unless you sign up (and pay) for minimum one year and get yourself a work visa.

Working in Bali without the proper paperwork is obviously illegal.

    Hi balibule,

yes im planning to stay longer and get extra cash maybe for a year or so?
how much is the working visa then?

    Hi Grace,

it's really not that easy, what you probably mean is a "business visa" (you can import / export f.e. with this but you cannot work)
    If you want to have a "working permit" (IKTA) you must pay 1200 USD + the KITAS (which is the visa for a year & also costs 300 - 400 USD on top), but it's even worse;
even IF you're willing to spend the amount you probably must have the right profession / find a company who's willing to hire you. That means if you're a secretary for example you will NOT get a working permit (the logic behind this is that an indonesian person can do the job as well)...so it IS indeed very complex and frustrating sometimes! Everything is possible here with some baksheesh (well most at least) but it will cost you a lot and you'll end up without money easily...

    Cheers And Good luck!

IKTA? you probably mean IMTA (very confusing all those abbreviations) but it stands for Ijin Mempekerjakan Tenaga Kerja Asing...this is by the way applied for by the company that is going
to employ a foreigner and not by the foreigner itself. i.e. it is owned by the company and thus also paid for by the company...the 1200 USD that is. Also the KITAS, wich is the permit to stay for a year is linked to this IMTA and also paid for by the company, and those costs would be closer to 600 USD.
So you can't switch jobs, if you know what I mean.

Now if you have a friend with a indonesian company and he's willing to let's call it 'help you' getting all the papers needed to stay in this country a year...then that means you would have
to reinburse the costs he made right....so then your costs would be 1200USD + 600USD,
so without a friend and money, or some very amazing skills that would make you an asset to an Indonesian company...it's like I said before

Forget about finding a job here
don't read between the lines..i think the words are clear enough...:)
