I will be back in the Kampung in early Feb. drinking my favourite palm wine tapped that day. Only about 3% alcohol but leave it for 2 days and full fermentation and it goes up to about 7% :D

I suggest you wander through a few of the restaurants and bars around Seminyak which are hurting badly and cater for a higher target than the Mansion House and Hatten's drinkers. They're really hurting. Check out Kudeta, 50% Balinese owned, it's got 90% of it's cocktail list marked as unavailable.Originally Posted by hinakos
The thing is Bali has started to attract a higher end tourist of recent and those sorts of tourists are not going to settle for Mansion House or Hattens, and they know the difference. Most of the name hotels are Indonesian owned as are many of the restaurants around Seminyak and they are all hurting badly. A friend, who owns a restaurant in central Seminyak (he's Javanese) has told me how much they are losing daily, and how much his staff are losing in their service charges.
Maybe the downmarket Kuta bars are ok but that's not really what I'm talking about.
