Just to be very clear on this subject, BALINESE COWS are not kept for their milk. This kind of cow only produces milk if it has an offspring.

Yes & No!

Yes: it has started lactating because it has given birth to a calf
No: it continues lactating after the calf has gone because the farmer continues to milk it!

What I thought Ron. But the comment about Bali cows having to have offspring implied other cows didn't.

Then i wondered if they might induce a phantom pregnancy to get cows to produce milk. :shock: Nothing would surprise me these days!
