What is known about the park? The official website is in indonesian which makes things difficult? Id like to camp in the park for a few days maybe even hire a boat to take me around. is this possible? does anyone know where to get info?
Welcome to the forum johnsie. There is a camping area between the main road and the beach on the outskirts of Gilimanuk. I think I have located it in the centre foreground of this Google Earth pic. The road travelling up is from Negara to Gilimanuk, and the ferries to Java depart near the top of the pic - click on it for more detail. The road to the right is to Singaraja and travels through the park.
When I have seen the camping area it is quiet, but they say it gets busy in university breaks. You can find guides there who will offer treks of various lengths - I haven't done any yet. Maybe they could also arrange boats - but in the tourist towns of the north coast just east of the park, there are many offering boat trips to Menjangan Island. Within the park there is Menjangan Resort (see http://www.menjanganresort.com/) - and while their accommodation is expensive, the Tower Restaurant is worth and visit and has reasonable prices. It is made from huge logs and gives a view over the treetops.[attachment=0:21b4w2r4]gilimanuk.jpg[/attachment:21b4w2r4]
