    Default vaccinations

Hello! I will be moving to Bali within the month, and am wondering if Japanese encephalitis is a concern in Bali. Or, if any of you have heard about getting or have had a Japanese encephalitis vaccination. The doctor at the travel clinic suggests it if there are rice fields and pigs. Pros being - vaccination and protection, cons being - quite a few side effects and expensive, as well as a current shortage in Canada.

As well, from your experience, do you recommend any other vaccines or health details?
    Thanks!

Yes, there is Japanese encephalitis in Bali, as there is in all of SE Asia, and it goes much under-reported. If you are moving to Bali for a long stay, you may want to consider immunization. As for the shots, reactions to them are usual mild, if at all. Serious allergic reactions are rare and can be handled with antihistamines, or steroids.
    Keep on smiling.
