Has anyone heard of Tai Chi lessons here in the south? as I live in Kerebokan and work in Seminyak somewhere around this area would, of course, be perfect. This post is in preparation for my soon to come New Year's resolution. Actually it's something I have been thinking off doing for ages, so I better get ready to start before another year passes.
My dear lady (BWW) is a devote of this relaxing martial art and could only find one source here in Bali surprisingly. Every other Eastern Mysticism is over represented but not Tai Chi.
The only source is Daniel in Ubud - BWW says he is great though and well worth the trip. Google him.
You could contact Bali Yoga Wellness. They list Tai Chi on thier website and although they do more one to one maybe they could recommend a class http://www.baliyogawellness.com/

In the meantime you could download Tai Chi DVDs, I downloaded from Demonoid, but it's been down for awhile.

And the whole question is: are we really supposed to shave the planet...?
thank you all for your input, it would be really cool if I could do something about my general fitness, and Tai Chi is supposed to be one way of doing it. I just loved watching "the oldies" in Singapore and Hong Kong strutting their stuff early in the morning, and I reckon I would fit in just fine
Hi, funny that is found this forum just when I was searching for "Tai Chi on Bali" because I'm thinking about teaching Tai Chi on Bali in near future. Maybe. I already teached the Yang-Style (http://www.jdiatcc.com) Short-Form and Qi Gong in Germany (http://www.centre-qigong.de) and I think that Bali is a great place with much power to exercise Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong. And the number of schools and teachers seems to be less.
If you like, I can give you an introduction to Tai Chi, to give your New Year's resolution some speed before it's gone. Unfortunatly I'm staying in Payangan near Ubud, but we will find a meeting place I think.
You can also have a look at this site:

It's in Canggu and close to you. I dont know if these guys are still active, but have a try.
Videos I wont recommend because you can see the movements - but nobody is telling you something about the inner principles. and most of all: to exercise together is very important to have a chance to feel the correct movement. That's what i learned from Master John Ding - and not to be too "holy" with these things. Smiling is also very important!
I wish you to find a good teacher and that you got fun, power and great health with Tai Chi.
Rolf :D
Widder, yesterday I saw a group of (local) people at the Sem beach wearing yellow t-shirts and practising. I'd say it was Thai Chi but can be mistaken. I also read (baliwellnesshuppelepup, something like) that there are Chi Qong classes.
I agree, a DVD is nice when you have a bit of a Thai Chi-background.

Please be carefully with this people, practising Qi Gong. I saw them too, also here in Ubud. In most cases the belong to the Falun Dafa (Falun Gong)-group. In China prohibited. They use Qi Gong for their meditation but to what they believe it's also a kind of "religion". My advice: gather some information first before you join this group. :!:
Mmm... Delphino, when you are in a vaulnerable phase everything is "dangerous". Computergames, women, men, gambling, yoga, church, booz ... etc etc...
Always use your brains and senses, and your own will, it is not for nothing it has been given to us.
The reason why Falung Gong is prohibited has a political reason...
