UluwatuWaves send me a strange email, I even doubt if its really Uluwatuwaves that send me the mail, but for now I have to assume its really from UW.
Anyway, UW thinks he or she is spammed because of his or her presence on this forum, I don't think its possible, but if any others think the same I would like to know.
And.. UW asked me to remove his or her account, and to remove all posts made by him or her.
Ofcourse this is not such a good idea, since it makes some of the conversations unreadable. Thank God, I already had disabled the account.
This question, and a recently destructive member that had the same idea, and partly succeeded, made me decide to turn of editing again.
So, what you write stays, as far as I can help it.
Think of that before you post.
Bert, I have to say, that I've had a few spams from Indonesia. Can't be sure if it's only due to being on this forum, as I've also been on another Indonesian forum a few times in the past, though I stopped a long time ago.
Personally Bert, while the ability to edit what you said after the fact might be a good idea for some, it's fine not to have it. In a verbal conversation you can't 'take it back', so why should you be able to in a virtual conversation?
As to spam - who knows how that happens. Luckily my Australian ISP has put some really good spam filtering on recently and I've dropped from approx 5 per day to none.
Now where am I gonna get my little blue tablets ? :D
Bert, I am a “babe in the woods” when it comes to all things computer. But, I have to ask the obvious. How can anyone have access to the e-mail addresses of forum members? Aren’t all e-mail messages between members made through your site, thus filtered for spam, etc?
Once members decide to share their e-mail address, as I have often times, with another member, (including phone numbers and our address), then I can understand how that e-mail address could show up on a spam mailing list. I’m not suggesting any impropriety on the part of members, but I surely don’t trust ISP’s all that much.
As for editing, at first, I didn’t like what you wrote, but after reading Freo’s post, she makes a good point...such a good point that she convinced me. She’s right, one can’t take back words in virtual discussion, so why should it be any other way in internet conversation?
I don't think the source of Ulu's spam is coming from this forum. In the mean time I had a email conversation with whoever is using the email address of Ulu, and it may be that Ulu's email address has been or is hijacked by a (ex) vengeful girlfriend....
