Forum a bit quiet tonight, hmmm wonder why?
Well all you buggers sitting on the sofa stuffed with turkey wondering what it would be like not to have to listen to Uncle Bob's same old jokes or have to eat Aunty Ida's solid Christmas cake again but would rather be on the Magical and Paradisical Island of the Gods. Well here's some pictures to be going on with... send CARE package turkey with extra stuffing please

Well, looking at your pics Markit, you seem to be doing very well. It looks well constructed and well planned. Congratulations and merry christmas. Maybe next year you will be celebrating in your new house :)
That is Far, FAR from the Christmas we have had, though I have to say it has been fun in its own way & I believe we spread more than a little Christmas cheer :DWell all you buggers sitting on the sofa stuffed with turkey wondering what it would be like not to have to listen to Uncle Bob's same old jokes or have to eat Aunty Ida's solid Christmas cake again but would rather be on the Magical and Paradisical Island of the Gods. Like always, I enjoyed your pictures, a little whiff of "real" Bali. Thanks.
As for the Xmas' eve dinner, Uncle Bob and Aunty Ida did not show up with their f******g turkey and solid fruit cake. So, my dinner consisted only of foie gras, a dozen of oysters in the shell with a wine vinegar and shallots sauce, a 2 kgs Maine lobster accompanied with a home-made garlic mayonnaise, and the whole thing watered down with a California Cabernet (sorry French wine-grower) "Belvedere." A coconut cream pie ended the festivities. :)
PS. Did you ever take some of your guys to the doc for tetanus shots? :(
Keep on smiling.

It's looking great Markit. Can you please tell me about the balancing tank for the pool as in what it does?

As always thanks for your kind remarks (turkey with stuffing, notwithstanding).
You and me both! :lol:Originally Posted by Dyah
The balancing tank is there because I have a, so called, "overflow" pool without skimmers to remove leaves and garbage floating on the water and any rise in pool water levels (due to people jumping in or heavy rain). The idea was to have this "infinite" view into the rice fields when swimming - that was the idea, watch this spot :) .Originally Posted by toucan
Now the complicated explanation - the balancing tank is mainly there because when an overflow pool is full it may look flat but is in fact a hemisphere of water held together (higher than the waterline!) by surface cohesion. The way I understand it, and this may be complete BS, is that to have an overflow pool that does in fact overflow you need to have substantially more water available than is in the pool. Or the pumps will be pumping away merrily without causing an overflow until hours later when they have finally broken the hemispherical surface cohesion of the existing water in the pool.
Jesus I'm getting anal, sorry but you did ask  hope this answers it and my doctoral dissertation on why is water wet coming next week.
Tintin I did think about it but came to the, possibly cowardly, conclusion that that was a level of responsibility that I didn't want, really. I mean where does it stop then? Chest xrays if they cough? Noticed that some of them don't have shoes? Should I buy shoes for everyone? You get my meaning...Originally Posted by tintin

Thanks Markit, I get it now and it does make sense when you think about it, all that extra water has to have somewhere to go when the pump turns off. Hopefully not too long before you can be out there floating with a nice cold drink.
