Default A proper apartment in Ubud?

Is every single place to rent in Ubud a homestay, inn, bungalow or hotel? It would be nice to find a proper apartment with more than 5 watts of lighting and an internet connection. This man is not a tourist. Trying to live here.

By extension that would require the presence of western apartment buildings in Ubud which, and fortunately so many would say, there is no real demand for. Best to seach for a share or guest cottege. There are numerous options once you start scratching the suface. You need to be on the ground here - lokking via the net is not going to produce good local results.

    Hi Gongchime
Check the Bali Advertiser (local newspaper). Also go and have a drink at Nuri's - local expat hangout - have a chat to the expats in that area, could probably give you some tips

    Hi Gongchime,

I can guarantee you that there is no such a thing in Ubud as an apartment, rent or buy, period. However, the closest thing to an apartment that I know of (in fact, much better than an apartment) is an upstairs (2nd floor US) in a house, and a kind of 3rd floor (only a short flight of stairs), which provides a magnificant view of whole of Ubud, right in the middle of Monkey Forest. It's called Puri Muwa. For more info, call Susi Johnston, Tel: 08123665669, or email her at : susi@macantidur.com, or, http://www.macantidurtextiles.com

If you're lucky, it is available for rent at the present time. Great location, and Susi is a delightful person to know: speaks fluent Balinese (she actually translates Balinese writings), knowledgeable about everything Indonesian, and Balinese in particular (and she is quite good looking, also, which fits well with her personality). She was very active in helping the victims of the Aceh sunami.

    Good luck.
    Keep on smiling.
