Default Police, hotel and business warnings?

    Hello

    We are a non profit site dedicated to the betterment of Bali by exposing corruption and bad business on the island. So others can avoid the businesses or problem areas, and / or warn fellow travelers, etc. on one of our three bulletin boards;

    Fugly Bali Hotels (including villas)
Fugly Bali Police (and other government officers)
Fugly Bali Travel (travel agents to lawyers to furniture shops to money changers).

If you have, or know someone that has details of corruption / bad business in Bali, and would like to have this information published. We do not give any details on you unless you ask us to, and advise the Bali Tourism Board automatically by email of the warning / complaint, so they can act accordingly. Of course, this will often mean that nothing happens, except that you make sure those that deserve bad publicity get it. And remember, by shaming the fuglies in Bali, you absolutely will be doing your bit to help the island we all love.

I suspect the owner of this website to be the same as the one in the topic:
    http://www.bali-information.com/expat_f ... php?t=1727

Anyway I myself dont thínk this kind of websites are the way to handle wrongdoings of people and institutions. Yust a warning on forum-sites like this and a complaint to the organisation and/or superiors should be enough.

Why you might want to avoid this Indonesian Island!
You want to stop people from going to Bali?

Come on Mark (public proxy), let it go.

A lot of things you say are true, but what you do is criminal as well.

For what it’s worth, this post by “Bali Fugly” was also made on the BTF, and was summarily removed within hours. By the way Bert, Pak Peter has allowed me to post referrals to this forum on the BTF when questions raised there are specific to expatriate living in Bali, including a link.

As of this AM this “Bali Fugly” post was not posted on the “nuts” forum.

I think the “tie in” of that web site to the “public proxy” in question is highly likely. I think it’s more than co-incidental that the photograph of Pak Pastika used on both sites is identical, and the writing style is clearly the same.

I hate to ask you this Bert, but I personally don’t see much if anything of value to that site, and I also can envision some “sticky wicket” legal issues down the road…so, maybe you should consider eliminating it from this forum, especially since many (or is it all?), of the posts made here eventually make it to the search engines.

That’s my opinion, and if I had to guess, I would think it would be shared by many of your readers here.

I know the true identity of Fugly. I wasn't difficult.

Like I said, people ar allowed to come by and state their opinion, freedom of post. (if within the margins of proper behaviour)

But they are not allowed to start a crusade.

For the moment I don't see any legal consequences.

Bert, have you thoroughly reviewed the web site in question? How can anyone conclude that it is anything BUT a crusade?

Yes, I know for certain who is behind that web site as well. You and I both know his motive in producing that site is his own personal vendetta against certain individuals here in Bali. Is a vendetta not a crusade?

I think you should re-consider your potential legal, or other problems if you allow a direct link access on this forum to his web site. Contained therein are some very outrageous and libelous allegations against some very, very highly placed Balinese, including General Pastika. When these guys, the targets of his vicious attacks, decide to go after this guy, (and I know they already are), I wouldn’t want to be associated with him in ANY way. He can’t hide behind the laws of England forever.

Sure, I agree 100% with freedom of speech, but why should this forum be used as a portal to a web site that is so contentious, and libelous? If you insist on letting his post stand, at least remove the link, or any URL addresses to that site.

He is not allowed to crusade on this forum.

Wouldn't we better serve the "public" by letting them know what's going on?

Letting the link where it is doesn't mean that I, or the members of this forum endorse the content of it.

Without leaving the link in place, comments we make have no meaning anymore.

We need light to show what's right or wrong.

BTW, by public proxy I meant that he is using a public server in Austria to hide behind, a common method of "internet disguise".

    BTW, "The Fug" posted here:

    http://www.travelforum.org/bali/messages/39100.html

(Ironic location for the fug to hang out, he was called juvenile there :) )

that the Nut's forum didn't exist anymore. (slow proxy speed maybe)

Maybe that's why he didn't post it there.
