Hi all,
Had another scam email come in the other day, an attempt at ID Theft using PayPal as a cover. If anyone has received similar mails, threatening in undertones if a specific link isn't clicked then this is what to look for. I recently blogged about it to help protect those who may not know what to look for.
Cheers,
Mark.
Thanks CanonMan for pointing this out to all of us. I also got the one I think you're talking about.
I guess the easy way not to get caught by those scams is to never, ever, ever click on an email link concerning financing or banking. If it looks like there is a remote chance that it could be real go to your browser and go to the appropriate company link.
My Bali observations here - http://baliquest.wordpress.com/
I've been getting variations of this type of rubbish for years - other than transaction reports that I know have really happened, each time I get ANYTHING from "Paypal" (or variations thereof) I always forward them to:
spoof@paypal.com.sg
Within a couple of hours they'll reply : "This is/isn't a genuine mail"
ALSO: I never never ever click on links in emails about banking/finance/ frequent flyer miles etc (including those that appear to genuinely come from my bank) - but I go to my browser & manually access my account - just in case.
Be safe people - it's a jungle out there filled with snakes and some very strange ugly people
