Sorry Bert, you will not be pleased, but this shit has got to stop. We all know things in Bali are not perfect, but those of us that live here are short of words when asked where else to live? I, for one, am still speechless when I hear that question.
Bert, you, me, our very good mutual friend, and several others that participate here have received, and read the latest “update number 7” from Mr. X.
Please allow me to quote some of the outrageous statements offered there:
Ma’af, more:A shocking story illustrating that Indonesian business / middle class (including foreign residents) all the way up to the president are the probably nastiest people in the world statistically.
And worse:Anton Apriyantono the Agriculture Minister, Megawati Sukarnoputri the former president and probably Susilo Bambang the current president are all likely guilty of murder.
Mr. X no longer accepts my e-mail. But I know without doubt that he checks in here regularly. So, I have a message for Mr. X.We say boycott Bali / Indonesia, do not go on holiday to or invest there
Within the DPR and MPR legislative government entities of Indonesia, a new law is being very seriously debated…and that is cyber terrorism. Sure, it would be very hard to kill someone by banging keys on a keyboard, but the effects, (economically), can be the same. Long term negative economic effects have a direct bearing on the lives, health and welfare of Indonesian citizens. So,
the logic of someone with many multiple web sites, all containing false information, and clearly designed to malign in a malicious manner, and to cause severe economic suffering to the people of a nation can be as clearly understood as terrorism as much as an explosive device.” Sorry, that is just a little insight into my legal brief.
Freedom of speech has a responsibility, and when this freedom is abused, or worse, abused to the point of damage to a country (or individual), it is an attack. As I have written before, in Indonesia the right of freedom of speech is highly treasured. But, when that right is abused, and used to damage the Republic which has the responsibility to maintain that right…things can change rather quickly.
If this new law passes, and from what I hear it likely will, then Mr. X is in a whole lot of trouble. He will find himself seized by his current Portuguese hosts, deported to Jakarta, facing charges of terrorism.
I hope Mr. X knows and understands fully well that I was indeed behind the movement within the regency DPR, the provincial DPR for Bali, and now the national MPR to have him declared as a “cyber terrorist.”
Bali and all of Indonesia is my adopted home. I am a member of my village adat. I take my responsibilities to protect and defend my home here, in Bali, as seriously as I took my oath to defend my home before I moved here. This is not some “macho bullshit.” This is simply the essence of preserving and protecting the nest…the home of your family.
