    Default Hi New To Sanur

Hi all I am living in Sanur, what a place to live. I would like to know if anyone knows anything about fishing out here. I know the boat fishing is good but at 1 million rp a time that is to expensive for me on my budget. I have found local tackle shops etc. I have also seen the locals wading out along the shallow coast line. I wonderd if anyone knows what I am likley to catch and where to catch it. I know hardly any indoneisan so there is a language barrier. Can somone help me. I am taking lessons for the lanaguage I just want start fishing I did it in the uk and would love to do it here.

Wading along the coast line would get you small squid, I believe.

I had an invitation a while back when I was living on the bypass close to Sanur, to go with the father of a girl that lived by me to join him in a fishing trip. He didn't want me to pay anything, but he showed me the boat, and told me that the best time for fishing was about 2 or 3 AM. Night fishing in that boat wasn't a very interesting offer, so I didn't go. As for you, learn a bit of the language and become friendly with a few locals, and they will probably take you out for free or very little, or maybe just charge you a bit to take some fish home. 1 million per trip is definitely a lot though, and something that can be bypassed by befriending a local fisherman.

1 million for boat hire seems a lot

My husband runs fishing trips in Lombok a few times a week and charges Rp300,000 for 3 hours and Rp600,000 for a full day, which includes tackle, bait and the boat. We dont own the boat, Made pays charters a boat and captain out of that - so I am sure you could get cheaper.

If you go down to the Metasari end of Sanur beach,(between Mecure and Stiff chillis)
There are fisherman that will take you out beyond the reef etc for a 4 hr fish.
It is wise to bargain as I found that the first price is normally 1 mill or plus.

The best price I found was 300,000 in a outrigger style boat with tackle and bait.

Caught a fair bit but nothing large.

They also will take you to the hotspots, for a little more.
    Take your own snacks,water/beer etc.
