Following a press conference scheduled for 2PM tomorrow afternoon, Victor Mason will be launching his latest book, BUTTERFLIES OF BALI at ceremonies to be held at the Genta Gallery in Lodtunduh, Ubud.
This book is a monumental achievement, the result of several years of extraordinary effort by Victor. It is produced in much the same format at the classic botanical and fauna texts of the 19th century including lavish original illustrative plates.
For further information about this book, you can e-mail either Susy or Sundari at Saritaksu Editions Limited: books@saritaksu.com
Roy,
How did the book-launch go? My fiancée was invited by Victor and went there. Did you have time to stop by?
Tommy, it was great. Too bad you weren't here to enjoy it. Most of the original art work painted to illustrate the book sold, and Victor sold a bunch of books too! Big party, great food, open bar...the works! Victor was in his usual great form. Have you met him yet?
Unfortunately not yet. My fiancée know the "elite"-expat community inside out through her job while i've held myself behind the scenes like a dalang with puppets in a wayang-play.. many have heard of me and maby even seen me but none has met me. I would very much like to have met Pak Andy before he left us. He knew the rindik and gender wayang inside out and as you maybe know this is also a passion of mine. I think one of the song we used to practise was one of Andy's creations on the gender.... it is called Sukandi (Sukandy)
Oddly enough, at about the same time we lost Andy Toth, we also lost another American, also a music professor, and also an expert like Andy with the gamelan, Bob Brown. He lived up my way. He also died of cancer.
