Good Luck getting any answers to your questions, there seems to be a click on this forum which is dissapointing, to say the least.

I would love to know who is in this clique so I could join. :P There are, as in any forum some long time members but all are made welcome here but we do have many newcomers who once there questions are answered just go away.

Calitobali-

Seems we're in the same boat? I'm 21/f and moving to Bali tomorrow- have never been before!

Good luck to us and perhaps meeting up for aa Bintang would help once you get there too!

For sure. I have a few friends already over there, and we will be living in a house near Kuta. Where are you moving from? I will be there August 28th.

moving from Dubai. Used to travelling, but have been based here all my life! Will be in Jimbaran, but from what I gather - not hard to get to Kuta?

clique? Wow, this argumentative crowd,, hahaha Everyone enjoy the stay, WARNING: You will be hooked the rest of your life! Just be sure to get out of the Kuta area awhile and see the "REAL" Bali... take a few days on a roadtrip, campout up north, and stay at candi dasa, or similar,,,,, if you dont you will regret it, there are lots of things I missed and I was there for 6 months//////////

A few words of advice:

Get your International Driver's Permit in the US before you come. Otherwise you will be vulnerable to constant extortion from local police if you want to drive a motorbike.

Marijuana is severely illegal.

Beware of ladyboys and women who drive around late at night offering massage. I think some of the ladyboys are actually thieves.

Since you say you don't have much money, I wouldn't loan anyone money unless they give you some collateral that you can sell in the event that person doesn't repay you. I lent someone some money, a person I thought I could trust. It was really stressful, a hassle and a waste of time to get them to repay me. Now I will never loan money again.

If you don't really have much money, I wouldn't expect to live here long term. It may be more expensive than you think. Little things add up. And I wouldn't advise working illegally. It would be better to spend a few months here then go home.

thanks for all the help guys, I will be here next thursday the 28th of august.

I have a free place to stay so that should cut down on my expenses greatly. as far as money goes, I will be earning money, but I won't be working in the true sense of the word.

Hey All,

I'm the friend that CalitoBali is moving in with...

I look forward to meeting many of you, and I'm glad to see how helpful people are on this forum...

BobbieM, good to see another person coming to Bali, you're the same age as my gf, I'd like to introduce you two sometime... anyways... I'm picking up this guy at the airport on the 28th, gonna grab a Blue Bird... was thinking of grabbing a Golden Bird but that's too flashy, lol

it's hard to tell who's an expat and who's a tourist in Bali, I suppose most in Seminyak are expats, we have a few friends here so far but are always willing to make more. I already know nomad4ever (wie geht's!?) and will probably meet many of you soon.
