Default Coming to Bali - starting a bank

    Hello Bali Forum members,
I'm new to the forum but not new to Bali. I've been a frequent traveller to the Island, now I will be a permanent resident.
After working for 20 years in the City of London and now approaching my 40st birthday, it is time for me to retire and to let the youngsters make some money.
The City has been very good to me but it's time to stop the rat race.
I sold my house in Kensington and will look for a place on the Bukit.
I intend to start a bank in Bali, the International Bali Bank, IBB.
I will personally capitalise the bank with $50 million.
It is my objective to turn Bali into a major offshore financial center and improve the standard of livings of all the population.
    Best,
    Rob Sterling

So, either this is another episode of The Twilight Zone, or you are for real. If the later, then welcome to the forum. :P

I doubt you will be able to open a bank with such a paltry sum as $50 million. Banking laws in Indonesia would require a much bigger deposit than that. You will also not be able to retire at 40 nor will you be able to run a business in retirement but of course you know all this right.

I shall leave my other leg in a pulling position where there are prayers sent to Biddha for every pull.
    Regards Jimbo

    Hi Robert,

Welcome to the Forum. I think your plans are ambitious and impressive, and I would like to help you out. I don't know twiddly shit about banking, but a bank needs a location, and do I have a location for you! It's on Jl Raya Ubud (main street), you couldn't hope to find a better spot. I'll hold it for you, but of course, you should first send me a deposit to my bank account in Nigeria. PM me, and I'll give you the number (You'll appreciate I cannot divulge this number publicly, otherwise I'd inundated by people wanting to buy my piece of land, which I have kept, up to now, for a good opportunity such as the one you propose).
    Keep on smiling.

    Daniel

dcc, perhaps along with mismatching "st" with "40", he also mistakenly mismatched "$" with 50 million.. the poor dude must have mean 50 million rupiah :)
