    Default Canggu Club

    Hi

We are looking at a family membership at the Canggu Club. Do any former or current members have some feedback on how things are? I heard it was in decline for a while but has sorted itself out lately. This true?

    Thanks

Have a look at the Bali Classified in the forum, some one was advertising a membership as they were leaving Bali

We're members and have absolutely no complaints. Especially since our kids go to the school. I use the library to work in and the gym is one of the best in Bali. Yes, it is a bit neo-colonial and I think you're in trouble if you spend all your time in that particular coccoon (eg the other day I told another member who's been in bali for a couple of years that my youngest daughter was addicted to bakso and she said 'What's that?!) If you're after a cheaper membership a friend who just returned to Aus is selling theirs - pm me.

    cheers, phil

Thanks, Phil. I don't have the required 10 messages in order to do a pm. If it's a family membership, I'll be very interested.

Isn't there a term in the Canggu Membership Contract that it's not transferable to others? Did they change that?

I'm pretty sure when I wanted to sign it (like three years ago) I asked and they said it's not possible....

    Default yes, transferable

Yes, they must've changed it because they're absolutely transferable now. You see them often for sale in the Bali Advertiser.

    Default Canggu Club review

    Hello,

As a member I can tell you that the Canggu Club is still in decline...
Many members are not satisfied at all by the service provided by the club
The place is very nice but the management is poor...
The level of service is not in accordance with the high price we pay.
Canggu club is looking for more profit so many free activities have been canceled since we became member.
The management said that not enough people followed the activities so they had to cancel them. But the truth is nobody follow the activities because the quality of the service is poor. They don't provide a proper training to the indonesian staff so it becomes quickly boring...
In order to improve the quality, they now use a sub contractor (Bali health) to manage the gym facilities but members have to pay additional fees to follow the new lesson so global fees are getting very expensive... Non-members can join also join the activities... why should we pay the membership?

I wouldn't become a new member if I were you...

    Thanks for your reply, Bat.

It's disappointing to hear. We are hoping to center many of our children's activities around the club. I guess we'll have to give it a thorough looking over before making any decisions.

Bat has raised some legitimate concerns about the club but I still think that if you have younger kids, and especially if they go to Canggu school, the advantages of the club outweigh the disadvantages. Just go there on a school afternoon and see the large number of kids playing soccer, swimming etc
