I know for most of you that already live in bali and are experiencing life from the inside out, that this may not feel pertinent to you. But to someone just moving there, (which we hope to be doing next Jan) our dog is a major issue...You see, she is not just a dog....she is our family....she is intuitively smart, a Queensland blue healer, and so much a part of our life. We need real answers. She has been in the US, Colorado and California and is a certified companion dog. What papers, red tape, forms, dot coms, or any other embassy, forum or papers do we need to fill out to get the information. All help will be appreciated!
i think the easiest way would be to call the indonesian embassy and ask what regulations the have regarding pets.
What i have heard is that it is forbidden to import dogs and cats to Bali, Palembang and Irian Jaya
There seems to be an agency in Jakarta that can help out in a semi-legal way through first shipping your pet to Jakarta then by car to bali.
This is what I learnt on a Dutch site:
pet: dog or cat
Rabiësvaccination: Between 14 days and twelve months before importing
Quarantaine: no
healthcertificate: yes, five days in duplo
Legalisation: No
Remarks:
·Need an permit from: Ministery of Agriculture, Jalan Salemba Raya 16. Jakarta
· Owner has to send an letter of recomendation to the Bureau of Animal Husbandry – Provincial Office in the area in which the animal wil stay
· Need to make claer the date/time of arrival
· Need to state on the certificate:
- The animal has not been in a yellow fever infected area for a period of at least 5 days prior to shipment
· No import on Palembang, Bali and Irian Jaya
