Default Bali life all year round

    Hi,

We might move to Bali. We went there a few years ago for holiday.

We would like to get the opinion of expats regarding life all year round.

We know it's a paradise for holiday, but how is it when it comes to live there the rest of the year regarding entertainement, people...?

What are the pros and cons?

    Many thanks!

I think maybe doing a few searches on this forum will give you most of the answers as there are MANY threads discussing living in Bali , what sort of visa is required , cost of rentals, issues with "purchasing" ( I use that term loosely ) land or housing , costs for every day items and what the expats who live in Bali spend per month.

Maybe then after spending sometime researching then any further questions can be answered but a broad statement such as the question you asked may be difficult to answer without knowing more detail.
BTW, welcome to the forum and may your time here be productive to both your self and the other forum members. :) :)

    Cheers
    Ken

Thanks Ken for your reply but my question is more about the atmosphere and the island life.
Sometimes living on a small island can be boring...

I did look for information on this forum but usually it is answers to questions.
I would like to get expats' feedback about their life and not about the cost of living.

    Thanks again,
    Piloutse

The question is really a bit too general. Different areas have different atmospheres and focuses. If you can be a bit more specific maybe?

There is a wealth of information here about expats and their lives in Bali. You just need to search for it.

Life is what you make it but if you want to know more specifics you will have to say what you want not what others want. Let me help if I can.

If you want a life with lots of expats to socialise with, there is pleanty of that. If you want to laze on a beach and soak up the sun, there is plenty of that, If you want to be a recluse and have a very peaceful life there is plenty of that.

It all depends on what you want. Bali is an island that having been there many times I find there is always more to discover and do. If you get involved in local customs and religion there is a lifetime of interest and learning.

This forum is full of all of the above and you can research until you find what you want but the main point I am making is that only you can answer your question. Good Luck in your search.

    Hi everyone,

    Thanks for your posts!

    I'll ask more specific questions:

Is Kerokoban a good place to live?
Are there entertainements (cinema, bars, different kinds of restaurants, sports club..)?
Is there a supermarket? I heard there is a Carrefour in Bali, where is it?
Are imported wines expensive? How much?
Usually is the working week of 5 or 6 days?

    Thanks again!

Ok, as I asked for specific questions I will try to answer those you have posted.

Is Kerokoban a good place to live? I dont know, as I dont live there but I would find it too busy myself.

Are there entertainements (cinema, bars, different kinds of restaurants, sports club..)? I know there is a cinema but I have never been. There are countless bars and restaurants. I dont personally use sports clubs but I know they are out there.

Is there a supermarket? I heard there is a Carrefour in Bali, where is it? Yes there is a huge Carrefour on Sunset Road. There are also other supermarkets like Makro, Hardys, and more. I shop at Carrefour as it has the best range of products, that I look for.

Are imported wines expensive? How much? Yes, more than I care to spend so I havent taken much notice.

Usually is the working week of 5 or 6 days? Depends in what sector.

good ol' schappers - you know you'd think she'd be a little more appreciative - she violates indonesian law and she gets put up in a free pad in kerobokan - that's every 18y.o. aussie's dream!

Is it possible to visit Schapelle in jail?

I have some degree of sympathy for her as there is simply no reason to smuggle drugs in to Indo. I am sure there are many that disagree.
