Default Accommodation / House search, I welcome ideas!

Yep, I will be arriving this Saturday and I am searching for a place to sleep.
I 'll be flying at night from BKK, so no sleep for me that night and will be quite beaten when I arrive (but maybe I'm underestimating my adrenaline level...)

I screamed before "Lovina!" because I have no specific place to go and I just like the name (there are no more serious criteria than this...) but actually I am open for other areas as well.
I want to avoid busy areas. I am a pretty boring person, so I can skip nightlife easily

Right now I am searching for an accommodation for 1-2 weeks to acclimate and in these weeks I can hunt for a house for a longer period.
And maybe I am lucky and can find a house right away, but I guess this is too much to hope for.

It would be for 1 person.

My budget for a house is 3,000 000 R per month (there is a little stretch)

    A must:
What I really need is a market nearby (fresh market or a supermarket),
    Internetconnection
    Safe n quiet area
    Easy access to public transportation

    A plus:
    Yoga & stuff
    Post office

Ideas for a guesthouse, homestays are also welcome (I like a private bed- & bathroom)

    Happy greetings,
    MiS8)

Maybe for the first night or two you could book a hotel near the airport in Kuta or Legian.

Ubud seems to be the most popular places for Yoga. There might be places around Lovina, but I haven't really seen them before.

Lovina doesn't have a supermarket, you need to travel to Singaraja either to Hardys or AB Food Mart for food shopping. There is a market but its not great.

Everyone has different opinions about Lovina. It is hot and dry and the beaches aren't great, but it is quiet and the people are friendly. If you decide to stay, I would be happy to try and help you find a place.

Internet is not as good here as the south of Bali. If your house has a telephone line you can get Speedy, if not you will have to use Spicelink.

I think maybe you have had a lack of replies because you are not looking for any specific area.

If you were interested in the Jimbaran area I could suggest some places. The market isnt very close to us though...a few km away at least. But I do like living in this area.

I seriously doubt you will find a house in the south of Bali or Ubud for Rp 3 million a month unless, as Mimpi suggests, you're prepared to go to Jimbaran or maybe even Sanur. I rent a 2 bedroom house in Petitinget, which is a few kms. past Seminyak and I pay just under Rp 40 million a year. I searched for about 2 months before finding anything suitable in this price range and there is no public transport to speak of. Thankfully, I ride a motorbike. Prices have skyrocketed in the past 2 years, as demand is high.

It is possible to find a guesthouse or homestay with air-con, hot water and probably Wi-Fi connection for around Rp 3 mill a month, however, it will be fairly basic accommodation. Places like this are not usually advertised; you just have to look around.

As spicyayam suggests, it would probably be better to book a budget hotel for a few days and start looking when you arrive.

    Good luck with your search.

Thank you guy & girls for reading my block text and thinking with me, it is much appreciated.
You made me realise that I have to narrow the searching field.
I read going from the airport to Ubud takes me 50 minutes. From Denpasar to Singaraja 100 minutes. bali-expat-forum-f2/how-long-does-take-you-from-t22115.html

And I have to recycle this thread, it's very informative with members having taken the effort to upload pics etc.) What's in Singaraja.

I decided to head for the north right away, maybe I can catch some sleep in the car.
The area I go for is around Lovina-Singaraja, a bit broader: between Seririt & Air Sanih http://www.balicarrentals.com/images/balimap.gif

I am not much of a beach girl (went to the beach 3 times in 4 month Thailand...)
but I do like a remote lifestyle with a bigger city nearby with its facilities.

Matsaleh, I can't stay too long in a guesthouse, because I am fond of my privacy and I'll be needing my own kitchen. But for a couple of weeks it's ok.
    40 mill.Rp for a year...it's a good catch for a 2 bedroom + in the South, but then..you searched for 2 months!

Well, my guts tell me I will find my place there sooner than I hope for and for less than I think of.. too positive...?? Haha... Will this shiny thinking of mine strengthen :D or weaken  me? Haha...you'll see my smile or tear in a month

This is the house we moved into recently - 25 million per year but like Matsalah I had to look around. Other than this one the cheapest I found up on the bukit was 35 million.

BTW I have a friend with a beautiful new luxury villa to rent for 200 million a year if your budget can be stretched!

Thanks for posting the link about Singaraja. It's the first time I read that one.

You might also want to read this one on everyone's favorite place to live in Bali.

Thanks Miso. I posted the pic to show that you do not have to be in a dump to get a bargain.

My 25 million per year works out at just over 2million per month. But you do usually have to pay a year up front when you rent a house here. In fact my house is much smaller and simpler than many of the expats but it is fine for our needs :D
