On another threat about importing booze, I noted the following:
More details on this 1-time import of personal effects would be helpful, I'm not thinking about importing a container load of booze, but:-
- How do you become eligible? Presumably tied to Kitas/residency permit?
- Is there an 'import tax' (official or unofficial)?
- What sort of things are classified as 'personal effects'? (furniture? maybe some home fittings&fixtures?solar electrical panel system?
)
- Is there a size limit (cuM?)
Anyone with experience & interesting 'real life' cases of how 'elastic' the term personal effects might be would be appreciated
You move your place of residence from somewhere else to Indonesia. A plan that will get you to a KITAS some time after the relocation is enough - you don't have to have a KITAS before you relocate.
No[*]Is there an 'import tax' (official or unofficial)?
Generally household contents. They want to see a detailed inventory of items at the Embassy/Consulate where you are getting your visa. Solar panels sound dubious.[*]What sort of things are classified as 'personal effects'? (furniture? maybe some home fittings&fixtures?solar electrical panel system?)
Not really (as long as it looks as it came from one house).[*] Is there a size limit (cuM?)
We brought 40 cartons weighing 2000 KG by air freight. It was books, records, crockery, cutlery, other kitchen gear, tools, paintings, etc etcAnyone with experience & interesting 'real life' cases of how 'elastic' the term personal effects might be would be appreciated
